Howdy everyone...

Does anyone have any experience making moonshine, white lightening, homemade hooch, etc? Any recommendations on still makers, mash recipes, tech. tips, etc?

Any info or knowledge would be appreciated...

Thanks!

i made my first still from plans i found using google its tank and heater are a 25 gallon hot water tank with the thermostat modified to get a higher and more stable temp.
the still head plans were also very easy using plumbing fittings readily available at the parts house.

i suggest you start with "white lightning" which is basically sugar water and yeast . fermented then distilled once you get that down move to a corn mash. you can use cracked corn from the feed store but its a bit more complicated than white lightning

Thanks...I've been cruising the homedistillers.org site for the last few days...I found it on a Google search...good stuff

When you were making 'shine', what type and recipe did you use? Did you carbon filter yours?

:peace:

I usually would make the pure stuff...sugar and yeast! This type is easily flavored with almost anything you like, I always used fruits, and very easy to do. When I did use a different type I'm a whiskey guy so I would do the cornmeal recipe. I did use a carbon filter. The water filter pitchers usually use an activated carbon filter that works very well.
