hi guys im in about day 5 of growing. this is my first time and i was wondering if more soil should be added after the seed sprouts? i took a picture of it so you can see it. oh and i have a 400w hps light on them. should i put the light closer? it looks kind of tall.

you can add more soil after it sprouts, no problem. i usually only fill my seedling's contains half full because of this. also it can be too much water. you shouldnt need to get the hps that close for seedlings.

This is perfectly normal in plants grown from seed. I buried my early starters for my next grow deeper (took them out, crumbled the soil off the roots and re-planted). I'll probably leave the late starters to grow unhindered and see how both sets do.
These seeds are for my second real indoor grow, first grow should be finishing in a few weeks. At first I was dismayed at how much those seedlings stretched, but now on the near-finished (scrogged, 25cm high) plants the proportions look right. I didn't bury those seedlings deeper.
