Moving away from the 1000w, What do you think?

Currently I am using 2 CFL 4 ft balasts in the space. I tried to move up to a 1000w HPS but because I am unable to keep it cool enough I need to sell it and move to something diffrent...

Now that I have new starts ( old ones got fried) I'm currently in Veg. using the CFL's

I'm looking for some insight on which light I should use.

I have 4 plants and my room is 6'x2'x6'

2x3 frame with a finish grade ply floor and panda poly for the walls.



I was thinking 400 w cooled hood hps/mh but, I dont want to have to try and sell it ina day or 2 because my room can not handle the heat...

I would appreciate your suggestions.

Id go with a 400watt in a cooltube. 400watt mh should fit in the cool tube and then a cheaper inline fan "still need like 200+cfm fan"

CoolTubes offer the most efficient cooling IMO. Just make sure you use a actual inline fan and not some rigged up stuff. The 400mh bulb will still restrict a good portion of your air flow so you need something a bit overpowered.

put that 1000 w back for sure. you have 6 feet of height just raise it up higher and put a fan in there or something im sure you can figure it out. that 1000 w is your best friend.
and since you have been using the cfls def make sure the 1000 w isnt too close give it time to adjust to more powerful light. There is no reason the plants should ever be fried. you must have had the light way too close.

yeah 2nd that 600w with air cooled hood in the summer normal reflector in the winter

go with a 600 watt hps ....best bang for your buck...

maybe i will shop around for a cool tube hood for my 1000w light and i will have to pick up a nice vortex inline fan
