u should care about " visible light " because the plants " do " ......

plants outside are totally different, they do not need 12's..... they start the cycle toward bloom after summer solstice.

and it's much different growing from seed or clone outdoor. the seed will grow as it should and ignore the lighting / sun until maturity. but, if you did not select the proper seeds for outdoor, they will not finish. many strains sold are un-worked polyhybrid so each seed will kick out something different. if breed indoors, percentage of sativa genetics, your latitude will dictate the finishing times along with solstice. do the temps drop in sep-oct, this will also quicken the flowering times ~

so along with adding on " dawn / dusk " calculations into your computer you also have many other " inputs " that determine the outcome not including bad weather, storms, bugs, deer eating them etc .... good luck this season.

outdoor 42º latitude ~

It's gonna be strain dependent Wether they flower or not say 50/50. I have two gardens this year, one was started many months ago under artificial light and needs supplemental lighting to prevent flowering. The other garden I popped beans outdoors 6/7 weeks ago and they are vegging fine with no supplemental light. This is all in so cal.

I would take a few clones from all of those plants and veg them until july each should yield about a half LB. when you put them outside.
