is any body playing music for there plants ? is so please tell us if it added any yield to your grow. or your experience doing it. im had a old surround sound system laying around I have it turned on 6 hours a day in flower room. playing opera and big band. I will see if there is any improvement , its hard to hear over all those fans. so its turned up a little bit more then the fan noise. only running 6 hours during there day time.:leaf:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhsbM9LxPAk I have every thing else. from positive 1on water to heavy co2. so I added music. ill let it go. but not 24 hours a day. just 6 this harvest next time 12 hours. http://www.ehow.com/facts_6760299_classical-music-affect-plants_.html I also did some technical reading. basically music will allow the plant to absorb the nutrients 700 % better . the roots absorb the nutrients . so some how music allows the plant to use it . so im excited if I can add another 20 % more yield from playing the music. I will keep every body posted on this. its the perfect time to add it to my room as well I just harvested 8 plants so I know the yield . and I have some I just put in so there end result will tell us the truth . only thing the new plants will have is the others did not is music, same strand. soil so on. we will find out only in 8 weeks !

I'm glad you posted something because I would be very interested in seeing if it does. I am a mythbuster's fan and I saw the episode years back. As soon as we started growing we put music on :) And to be honest with I have no idea if the music is helping or not. But I'd love to think so. Also it makes us feel like our ladies are classy as fuck haha. We just run classical/orchestra music during the 12 hours of daylight in the flowering room. If we have the the means to add it to the veggie room we will probably do it in there too. Unfortunately we are new to growing, so we have no yields to compare music to no music with. We just ran music from the get go and continue to do so.

I was just thinking about this last night, now I've got my Ladies into the Final GR I'm going to be using..I can walk around and do things so much easier...and while smoking and watering Ladies I thought..Hmm maybe a little Radio tuned in to like Classic Fm or something Easy Listening or Jazz..I would like it..and I'm pretty sure(Not 100% mind) that plants do respond to music..read it somewhere..sometime ago...Woe Tokers memory...LOL

Peace

EDIT: Though would avoid Rock & Opera & Rap, plants either keel over or try and Stab u n Jack ur wallet!

right . I will tell you the end results. I have the same mother plant I keep cutting clones off of. I know what I average every grow, so if this works it will be great. best add on so far is the co2 by far. and cutting of fan leaves , when you run out of things to add you always find you need 1 more.

If I'm not mistaken it ended up being like heavy metal was the best for the plants. It has something to do with the sound waves. Like talking, singing or music in general is a good addition to a grow but then they went beyond that and tested if any one genre seemed to be the best and heavy metal was the best increase. I personally don't want to hear that shit going on all day and may I remind you they are ladies, not some rock concert chicks. So they will continue getting their nice peaceful tunes :)

That's a myth, this was started with that book that came out in the 80's called "The secret life of plants" and it was almost completely debunked as junk science.

i played music for a few grows then stopped. i had healthy plants then and still do. quality and yield is better now but that is due to experience.

i really don't think playing music helps, but when i did it, it didn't hurt.

I don't know, but it is definitely an interesting idea. I find much more info supporting it than I find saying it doesn't do anything. Here's some stuff that I found. But whether it truly makes a difference or not in yield, I have no idea. Either way it kind of gives my girls a personality :D I walk in in the morning, greet them for the day, turn on their tunes and then tend to their needs.

Here is a brief synopsis of the Mythbuster study:
Seven small greenhouses were set up on the M5 Industries roof. Four were set up with stereos playing endlessly looping recordings (as having the MythBusters actually talk to the plants could contaminate the samples with their expelled
carbon dioxide): Two of negative speech, two of positive speech (Kari and Scottie each made one positive and one negative inducing soundtrack), a fifth with classical music and a sixth with intense death metal music. A seventh greenhouse, used as a control sample, had no stereo. The greenhouses with the recordings of speech grew better than the control, regardless of whether such talk was kind or angry. The plants in the greenhouse with the recording of classical music grew better, while the plants in the greenhouse with the recording of intense death metal grew best of all despite somewhat dying, because the battery died on one of the timers that was watering the plants.

Here is another, more science-y thing I found: PubMed Central

im excited about it. I have some old cerwin vega 15 laying around im installing them tomorrow. in the flower room. not cranking it just a talking level. my patients were impressed big time with the music , they said it was like cheech and chung . the one where they steel all the weed from straw berry under the fake pool lol. old movie .

Snippet from the Article ~

"Garden guru Chris Beardshaw is recommending a new technique for bigger blooms – blast your plants with heavy metal.

The broadcaster and gardening expert reveals on Radio 4's Gardeners' Question Time on Friday that a constant diet of Black Sabbath worked wonders on a greenhouse full of plants, but exposure to Sir Cliff Richard killed every plant in a horticultural experiment.

Black Sabbath, led by singer Ozzy Osbourne, are seen as pioneers of heavy metal with tracks such as Iron Man and Paranoid. Beardshaw says using rock music as a nutrient appears to create larger flowers and they are more disease-resistant."

Was Surprised to read(On RIU 1st ~ BeardedBandit) then thought about looking around for more Info and my partner found this Article.

Will Defo be looking into this..maybe just a cheap n cheerful tranny radio from Argos 1st(Tuned into either Rock or Classical..on the other hand it would be just as cheap to Buy a little CD Player/Radio and let the Ladies enjoy Black Sabbath..while it lights on period?

Peace

Haha that's awesome. I might have to make the change from classical to heavy metal. I prefer the classical but it's all about the good of the girls!
