I am starting a grow journal of my new nft grow, I built this 30n site NFT from plans i found on another site though the plans are here also, I will be using Fox Farm Nutes and will be running 2K hps power for flower and 1k hps/1k mh for veg. I used a 48 gallon sterilite container for the res and had to build a 2x4 box around it to make sure i could still attach lid as the container bowed out horriblly. Ill add more info as questions asked if any are. Btw i have 35 fem church seeds in rockwool jus about to pop for this system.

seeds popping like crazy, i ordered 35 fem the church seeds by greenhouse seeds from attitude seeds.... whew, attitude has twice been very good with their service and i would whole heartedly recomend them. ive started two hang my lights. i have a 600w that i am putting neareast the wall left side on pics, in between will be a four hundred, then all the way right a 1000w, basically the foot print is 6x6 and im will be running 2000w of hps in their. i will be using all fox farm nutes as i have an abundence of them from previous soil grows and heard that they are decent, my water at this location seems to be somewhat of problem. out of the tap the ppm thingy i got reads 446. bogus ass sht. so it looks like i am going to have to buy a freakin ro machine. to vent the room i am getting a six inch fan connected to carbon filter. the fan will suck air through filter and pass it into flex pipe and it will exit through whole i cut i door into ajoining room. i also run a ozone generator to reduce smells. i will have picts in a few days of setup progressing and seedlings. peace and smoke on :) also free free to post any questions or comments please

And here I am running the 2 fence posts with ebb and flow on a 4x a day/15 minutes on cycle with a 400 over them vented by a 273 dayton blower to the ceiling. My water is hard also at 350 to 375 but I use GH flora series and they have a hard water micro that seems to work. 3" nets pot like me I see.

That's a lot of light for a 6x6 area. I would think a single 1000watt should handle it but more light is better I guess if you can vent it. Luckily I have an attic grow and smell is not an issue. Peace right back at ya!

technically the area is larger than 6 x 6 but the foot print of the posts is 6x6 plus we going to try to hang false walls of mylar to further enclose and reduce the size of area in which the light is, and yes 3", the plans called for 2" i believe but i went with larger posts and pots, i want larger everything really

Today i actually placed the seedlings in the posts. the pumps are running 1 min on 4 off, lol and it jus went on, i love this as i was a soil grower til now. with he research i did i am a firm believer in aerating your res, i have 4 6 inch airstones in bottom run by two wally world air pumps. so far so good, i added very minute amount of fox farm big bloom to res also, its holding 25 gal and i added 150ml, should add a little benefit, i also am using tap water thats sat out for 48 hours, the reasoning behind this is my tap has plenty of macro and micro nutes in it, and at this stage from what ive read its actually benficial to young seedlings, we getting a ro machine tho for veg and flower. here are more pict from today, when i get lid cut and installed i will show, im making some biscuits and gravy right meow tho so itll be a while :) im so fucken hungary

Seems te two middle post where not long enough and water wasnt draining correctly and some was getting on floor. I cut some channels to prevent any more leakage. The lid was installed (what a b****, cutting it). I am currently working on the air movement in the room.

im actually going to add those little extensions on everypost as soon as this bowls cached, a little water does trickle back the post after its supposed to drop into drainage pieces and some water is getting on the floor, this should do the trick, also i am running only 1600w and the res temp is at about 70, im not to happy i do not want to have to get a res chiller, my ambient air temp is at 82 so i need to lower that, but i only actually have a box fan in door way to vent room as of right this sec cuz im tring to fix leakages

Understood. That's why I started with a bought system. I get the occasional leak out of the drainage I installed at the bottom of my res. I'm basically mechanically declined!

I ran my grow room with the door open and fans galore with a 250 and some big CFL's. The heat from those size lights would be tough. I installed a 265 cfm blower because I'll be running a 400, 250, big cfl's and 8 unvented 42 watt cfl's. So far I can keep it under 80 easy with the door closed and mid 70's with it open. Winter is coming to these parts so I don't anticipate a problem. Winter grows are always easier for me.

i added another box fan tilted up towards the lights, and the room temp has already dropped 2 degrees to 78, from what i understand room temp should be around 75 in order to keep res temp within stable limits, i am also freezing a 1 liter cola bottle a 2 liter and a gallon of water, i dont know how much temp will drop when i put them in res so thats why i am doin 3 sizes ill record my findings then use apropriate size.
