My first grow, white widow...

So, this is my first attempt, I started one week ago today, germinating 5 white widow seeds (feminised) in an airing cupboard for 3 days before planting 4 into rock wool cubes (I had been planning to go hydro, but have since decided on soil) and moving to the window sill. The fifth has gone directly into soil today and the other four have gone into intermediate pots of soil about 1ltr capacity.
I am using bat-mix which should have enough nutrients until they are potted on again and then into the flowering stage, during which I will supplement with more organic bat-based fertiliser.
The seedlings will be starting their vegetative light phase under a 120w blue envirolight tomorrow on an 18 hr cycle, I am only planning to keep the strongest 2 or 3 plants after a week or so.
My grow room is 2'6"x2'6" with little height restriction, but I want to keep them low so that they get an even amount of light during veg and flowering.
I will be switching to a red 200w envirolight for flowering after about 4 weeks veg.

Thanks to the other journals... I probably wouldn't have got this far without them for inspiration, and detail.

hey bud, just wonderin if my soil will have enought nutes to take them to the flowerin stage, i was just plannin on lettin them grow natrually with distilled water, what u rekon, ur widows r lookin sweet, they r gonna b my next project,,,

I reckon they would probably get through the veg ok with no extra nutes, but you might get better results if you did add some... but I'm not really sure which... the guys at the grow shop reckon my specially formulated batmix compost will be ok till flowering when they said I should add some bat guano mixed with worm casts... I'm planning to pick some up in about 4/5 weeks when I switch... you could try some of that now... it's the organic option...

...seem to be coming along nicely, the biggest growth spurt was between yesterday & today, so hopefully they'll really take off from now on... they look healthy, only, some of the leaves are a bit crinkly... but not that concerned about it... watering a very little, once a day using tap water thats been standing since last week... lights on 18/6...

another seven days... still coming on nicely, they've grown a lot since last week... watering once a day in the morning, about 200ml each... but it's going up a little each day... originally had hoped to start flowering in 4/5 weeks, I guess this is going to be more like 6 weeks now, we'll see... also smelling a bit stronger now too... pic attached...

Come a long way in 6 days... any ideas about when I could switch to red / flowering? See attached pics... when they're ready for the switch, I was planning to pot on to larger containers with more batmix to keep the nutrients up and then add some more bat guano and wormcasts about 3 weeks into flowering...

looking good, i'll be watching! i might be buying some WW seeds or clones next

this is a nice journal you've got going here charliet. it's funny because i have an incredibly similar grow to your's going on right now. The only major differences are that mine is a hydro dwc grow, you started yours 2 weeks before me. so my plants are mirror images of some of your older pix.

Looks good, I would transplant now. Get thim into their final home and let them veg out, recover and grow. Then when you're ready switch the lights and watch the show.

Thanks all for the interest... I potted on to final place on Tuesday and have just switched to red/flowering today (but keeping blue on too), as you can see they have grown a lot since last week... I might add the extra nutrients in a weeks time but I'm not sure if they will really need it, as I am using batmix and they have just been potted on. The lights are about 7cm above the plants... they don't seem to need much water still, only about 1.5 litres between them since Friday...

great grow. i'm watching this for advice on my ww grow.

1 thing: everywhere i've read says more lumens get to the plants by hanging the lights sideways if you can.

...yeah, that's what I thought about the lights too... I was gonna rig something up but the guys at the grow shop didn't reckon it was worth the hassle, although they do have a purpose built hood for not too much... maybe next grow...
