My first hydroponics/aeroponics build

Hello,

I've been interested in doing hyroponics/aeroponics for some time now. I just recently came across the means and the time to put a system together. I want to go with a higher power system with sprinklers/misters instead of having the plants sit in water. The amount of floor space I have available is very limited, but I have about 8 feet of height to build in. A limitation I see is that most pumps aren't very powerful above 3 or 4 feet of head height. What kind of setup can I use to utilize the height of my space? Would it be wise to have two pumps, each in their own reservoir at different heights?

Thanks!

That makes no sense. Its not like you will need to pump the solution to the ceiling, the root area should be near the floor so they have room to grow.

I think he is talking a small vertical setup from what I deciphered.

Most pumps in the range of what most folks use, is 250-400gph pumps. Most will have a working head pressure of 3-6 feet.

You can keep the res on the floor, and run individual feeder lines ( 1/4" ) and that will just about take care of the lift issue for the pump. It can push nutes better in a smaller line further that say a 1/2 header to small lines up top. Keep the header down close to the res, or even in it. I have an octo bubbler inside the res, attached right at the pump, and the 1/4 lines are over 6 feet long to the sprayers and a 250gph pump works just fine for four 1/4" lines.

Hope this helps

Sounds right on I'll just add with the res, pump and accumulator on the bottom, solution will stay cooler, and there will be no problem with lift you could mist your attic, good luck!

After having tried all types of aero/hydro I took the best of each method and developed my own system

Misting from above is OK, but you risk the minerals/moisture eventually shorting out your lights ($$$$).

Plant stomatas are open in the morning ~ until 7am, so that's the best time. If growing more plants than a hand mister, buy a hand pressure pump mister from Lowes/HD (~$10)

I have a thread dedicated to it from seed to now 3rd week since pistils
