Hey roll it up just purchased a new vacuum chamber off of eBay for about 130

Its called that vac it pro!

My favorite part of it is the lid it fits on to most of my stove top pots, making the chamber smaller if I wanted

I'm sure I couldve built one for cheaper but I don't have the time

Anyone use this?

ive had one working for me just fineee on a 3cfm pump..

i made sure to extra tighten ALL the fittings.
..............
this happens though, so dont trip pit too hard :] . just be gentle with the chamber. treat it like a baby.

I also JB welded the joints of the handle son the outside for added extra peace of mind

As GZ notes, the Vac Pro lid deflects extensively under full vacuum and heating the chamber lowers the acrylic lids mechanical properties. Some acrylic lids have imploded on pots, so when I built ours, I made the first one with 1" acrylic and the second one with "found" 1 1/2" polycarbonate remnants.

I would watch the lid carefully and if stress cracks start to show, replace it with a thicker piece of acrylic. The 1" still deflected about .062, but the 1 1/2"'s deflection was not observable.

thats insane how a 1" lid would still deflect. damnnnn

my lid has been cracked since day 1 pretty much. its not getting worse. and it will hold a vacuum for 3 days and not drop. im sure it will fail one day though.

careful... I discovered that too and thought I was real smart... I did it on my thin ass SS dish though without realizing how strong a 29" vacuum really is...(it actually imploded at around 15-20") itll implode your dish quicker than you can say "oh fuck"

Damn that sucks I didn't think I was gonna have any problems with this one
I'm using a bullet 7cfm pump so I'm probably gonna witness that soon

I rarely use the chamber tho since it fits on my stove top pot which is like half the size

I've found that sand is an amazing conductor of heat, and even perhaps more advantageous does not bring humidity to the table like water does.

Sorry, this maybe slightly off topic...

But a real nice set-up is the exact model of chamber Gray Wolf created from Skunkpharm..

I have replicated the chamber, and love it...mine is a tad smaller however, to reduce air-volume, as my runs are nowhere near that big...

The changes I made apply to the outside of the chamber and the method in which I use heat.

Deep dish griddle, filled with reptile sand...I then shove my chamber into the pile of sand, packing the sand up the sides, outside of the chamber.

This gives a very consistent temp throughout the entire chamber, eliminating variances in temperature around the chamber.

Again..no fucking water, I don't want water, or steam anywhere near my errrllz..

Good idea! Sand is an alternative used in professional labs, in lieu of a mantle or bath.

I've simply found the water-bath someway or another ALWAYS interferes with the refinement of my oil.

Water and oil, do not like one another, and the introduction of steam that accompanies a water bath, seems to find it's way into the extraction and initiates the process of nucleation.

If I want wax, I want it to be on my own terms, and not because nucleation had forced wax upon me.

I contacted the eBay seller and he said he would be happy to send me another lid if I paid the $10 shipping

I'll probably do that just to have an extra
But still plan to just buy a 1"

yeah I seen that. I think I might do that too before its too late. mine is pretty damn cracked. id imagine that 10$ is just the lid, no fitting parts or hose.

I don't get these guys at Vac-it Pro.

If they are aware of the issue with the lids the produce, why not fix the problem before releasing more of the units?

Lord knows they are making enough cash to fix this minor yet, major issue with their chambers.

Just make it right to begin with, for fucks sake, they already charge an arm and a half of a leg...haha
