my plants dying help

Yes thw top got burn as i was away for a day. After i saw the leaf or branches were dyiing so I changed the pot bigger pot. First time i watered it but the water stayed in pot i thought maybe its coz bigger pot more soil so it takes more waterthe next tine i checked that water does notdrain off pot. Today i made bigger hole under pot and water is draining now..... but i dont k ow what is the real cause and what actuon or treatmwnt shoukd i take now i run about 200 watt with a mini fan......
