I am growing 2 plants in hydro right now. Last week they were healthy. Then in the past few days they are starting to die.

When I first noticed that Jack the ripper's leaves were wilting I hopped on here and started to read a lot of other posts.

Here is what I have done to correct the problem. I flushed Jack with plain water for 2 days then started back with the nutes about 1/2 strength.

Bubba kush just started to droop 2 days ago. I backed off the nutes yesterday and today it's looking worse. I've not flushed Bubba.

I've attached some photos of b4 abd after they started to get sick.

Can someone please give me some good advice. :wall:

Ok urm kinda a stupid question here but is that plant just in that rockwool cube?

Is that black stuff at the bottom your roots?

If it is then thats root rot i think.

Arnt you missing some medium?

I'm another newbie here.

I just started growing my first plants not too long ago. I have never grown b4. I had mentioned to a friend that I am interested in growing for my self so I wouldn't have to keep paying so much for it. Coincidentally his next door neighbor is a grower. So my friend introduced me to his neighbor. This guy had converted 3 bedrooms and was running hydro & airo. So we built a friendship and he agreed to teach me and sell me some of his clones.

This new friend of mine is really kewl. But he is a little crazy too. He thinks the world is coming to an end real soon and he has a million conspiracy theories. He is soooo paranoid that he makes others paranoid too. Shortly into my starting to grow. He had a mental breakdown and was hospitalized. So now I have bought all this equipment and a bunch of clones and my mentor has lost his mind b4 the clones made it out of the incubator.

I started out with 9 clones. 3 from 3 different strains (Bubba Kush, Jack the Ripper & White Widow). Only 2 survived, 1 each of Bubba Kush & Jack the Ripper. All of my White Widow died. So I have been relying on reading everything I can to learn what to do.

Unfortunantly I didn't know about keeping a mother until after I sent my 2 survivors into the flower room. I did take 20 clones from the 2 plants b4 they changed rooms. Only 3 clones have survived and 1 of them looks bad. I have 2 good Bubba Kush and 1 bad Jack the Ripper in my veg room. I don't think that the JTR will make it.

After my mentor went away I started to read up on here. I realized real quick that he wasn't doing things right. I have made mass changes to what he has taught me. He didn't monitor the ph, ppm or ec and he used a 2 part grow formula for everything. I have changed all that. I have bought digital meters and the guy who owns a local hydro store showed me what all nutes to buy for the veg room and printed me an 8 week schedule.

I switched over to the nutes that the Hydro store suggested and now this problem.

Brah, I hate to be the 1 to say this, but yer mentors plants were apparently doing fine if he had 3 rooms, he obviously was not a noob. Yet, once YOU, a self-proclaimed noob, start changing things the plants start dying. I think yer mentor may have known wat he was doin wen it came to growing!

The black stuff is actually a deep green color and the roots under the plant are a beige color.

You need a medium for those roots to grow into. Im pressuming that black shit at the bottom of the cube is your roots.

Thats really bad, and you have probably lost the plants :(

The way my mentor was running his plants was he did not monitor the ph, ppm, ec or temp. The only nustes he used thru the whole life of the plant was Grow part A & B

Yet his plants were beautiful, and yers are now dead cause ya really didnt pay attention somewhere along the road, evidence in that rockwool cube between yer feet! Not tryin to be a dick, brah, but if ya wanna get rid of all that equipment and let some1 a lil more experienced NOT kill some plants, hit me up:weed:

He lost his mentor when the roots were clones, so hes been flying solo for 5 weeks of flowering and w/e veg.....
Does not matter! His mentor had a nice operation going, obviously NOT killing DOZENS of plants w/the current set up. This guy says he cant keep N-E thing alive, not good, brah!

Not to be a dick either but we never saw his mentors plants so we dont know. He may of just been so skilled that he didnt need to measure ppm, ph and still produces plants..... Im fairly certain the reason his plants are dead is cos he tried to grow them in just a rockwool cube. Ie missing a key part of growing.

True, maybe he should try a simple soil grow first to get the basics. Soil is a lot more forgiving esp organics.
