My second grow - I think I figured it out (pictures)

Hey guys,
this is my second grow, growing 5 clones from my best plant off my first harvest. my first grow was successful, i got 10 grams from two plants, although they kinda struggled because i was a first timer and figuring things out, and i really think they could have yielded more (bud pic from the first grow below). i think i have figured out how to grow this stuff for this second grow, which have my hopes very much higher in terms of yield. what do you think? Theres pictures of the grow below, they rooted and vegged to 5 nodes under 2 CFLs and have been under the lights in the specs below for 9 days under 12/12.

specs:
2 - 2' 20 watt 2700K floro tubes; 1300 lm each, 2600 total
2 - 2' 20 watt 6500k floro tubes; 1100 lm eaach, 2200 total
4 - 43 watt 2700k CFLs; 2300 lm each, 9200 total
Total lighting is 14,000 lumens
Soil is 2/3 miracle grow organic, 1/3 perlite
Miracle grow houseplants (has micronutrients) for veg
Cactus fertilizer (with micronutrients) for flower
currently at half veg fert half flower fert
using sulphuric acid from a fish tank store to lower pH of feeding water to 6.5ish
epsom salt for Mg

well, time to smoke a j from the first grow!

peace

Do you flower with those lights also? What was your yield and from how many plants? Im about to attempt to flower with cfl's and a couple of tubes and wondering if it would be better to put them outside or if they will do..? If so, how far are your lights during flowering? That bud does look nice though. :hump:

Good luck, but don't expect great yields from CFLs. Those bulbs are great for vegging, but poor for flowering.
A 400w HPS would probably quadruple the yield.

Yea i know, you guys are right. because of space and power issues, this is the most i can do right now. eventually i do plan on getting an hps for some real growing, but this is better than nothing right? once i move out into my own place (dont want that electrical burden on my roommates) ill set up a small but well ventilated closet perfect for a 400hps. so now, im gonna see what kind of yield i can get from 14000 lumens.

bts - last grow i flowered with the 4 floro tubes and only 2 of the 42watt CFLs. results were only ok, i mean 11 grams from two plants is pretty bad, but it was something and it allowed be to learn how to grow without using high powered equipment.

does anyone want me to turn this into a grow journal...already missed the cloning and vegging, but i could start now on flowring and see how it goes.

Well I'd like to know how your flowering goes this time around. Your set up is pretty close to what I have. Mostly Im wondering if it might be better to flower them outside or if ill get better results under the set up ive got going? Ill prob add 2 more 42w 3000k bulbs and take out 2 of the 26w 6500k to flower. Wish I could afford a 250-400w CMH set up... One of my plants is about 2 months old, but started with some stress and low light availability (the one in the mid that I topped). The left one just started to flower on its own in a 18/6 cycle after being driven to retardation by stress I'm guessing (dropped out of its container as a baby 2 times). Trying low stress training on the right one. Front is a clone of some og kush. Heres a couple pics of the set up right now. =)

they look really good right now. I would definitly change out your 6500ks for 2700 or 3000ks for two reasons - the right color light for flower and they are more efficient. it takes more energy to make higher temperature light in a CFL, so a 23 watt 2700k usually outputs more than a 23 watt 6500k, by at least a few 100 lumens. Also, i would get your lights closer. The way you have your CFls hanging is perfect to just kind of straddle each plant from the top. Make the lights about 2" away from the plants. look at my setup and notice that the floro tubes on top are almost touching the plant tips, and the CFLs are between 1 and 2 inches from the closest plant. you will have to move them every day once you start flowering, but as we all know, more light is better. You will have a decent yield, but it wont be those plants that look like one huge bud.
