My very 1st grow on a paper thin budget !!!"pics"

Well this is my very first grow. I have read a lot and learned a lot from all of you guys on here and im trying to use as much of it as possible. My gorw is going to be a soil grow for the first time around i wanted to run a bubbleponic system but to be honest i dont even have the extra money to buy the simple stuff for that right now. So ne ways i had a bag of about 200 seeds that i just picked 20 out of, i germed the seeds and had gotted 14 that cracked. now this is where it got a bit tricky for me because i went on vacation right after i started to germ them i cam home to find 14 seeds that had 3-5in roots, i got some input and was told they probably wernt gonna make it so i cut off a 4 2 litters and put some soil from my garden in them and threw em under a regular lamp and the next day they were already perkin up and green. So yesterday i went to get some pots and some soil so i could get them all sperated and goin, well pots at lowes are to much i wasnt payin a $1.90 each for a 6" pot so i picked up some mg potting soil because i dont have extra money for nutes either lol. so ne ways i now have 14 plants under a fluorescent light that only one side is working right now so i need to get a new light and bulbs because its a 4100k bulb right now. To spite all i have put them through there gettin bigger already. So i have a bunch of pics ill put up that i have taken so far and go from there. all comments and help or words of wisdom welcom

I am also runing a long light schedual right now 20 on 4 off because it is a mg pottin soil and i dont want them to get burned from the nutes thats in the soil

makes me wan't to tell you to hold off on growing for a bit. Put all those nickles and dimes away and don't buy anything. Save up for an HPS. that area would be an awesome hps sog.

That shop light is a 4" one right? so your area is atleast 4x4 plus you have that awesome \ slope in the back that would make for some awesome mylar reflecting. I could see a tight main cola only 100 plant sog fitting pretty nice in there. I know that you totally want to grow but If that space was sitting here (i have to build all rooms that i use lol) and I was in your shoes I would just veg under that 1 floro bulb (possibly move them outside?) and save up for a hps

Too many people look at HID's and think OMG they cost way too much. To those i say check 400w HPS Florosun complete with bulb $95 or a remote ballasted HPS for $119.. $95 and $119 always seem like a lot but investing 1/2 that into a bunch of cfls, floro's is a bigger loss in $ and yield in the long run. Find a good local second hand store, a lot of times they carry the old magnet ballast type HID's and sell for around $45 with bulb (used of course )

In no way am i saying that if you plan on going cfl's to not go that route, I have seen a lot of awesome cfl's grows out there and I am even trying my hand at a cfl micro grow. Just from personal exp with cfl I know I have purchased more than $80 in bulbs alone.

I would suggest only using cfl if you are trying to be stealth or micro. or just wanna try it one time otherwise hold off and save up for a HID, you def won't ever regret having waited for one.

Anyways plants are looking good from what i can see. Def subscribing and will be checkin your babies out. Be it cfl or hid its gonna be a fun ride man, better buckle in

awsome im glad to hear from someone, i actually am going small on this for a few reasons, i live in my own house but i still lonly live 2 house down from my parents and im still trying to get the old lady use to the idea that im growin my own stuff, since due to our wonderful economy i am on unemployment so even if i cant do it the way i want it and believe me i wanna go all out, i figuered if i can grow a few plants and cover my weed costs for a lil while and have some fun why not. That area i do have big plans for but i my pennies and nickles are just going to a bunch of other places first but when i do get the money the room at the back is 43" tall it is 82" wide and at the front it is just shy of 90" tall and it is 63" deep, ill attach a diagram of the room to gie ya a better lay out then my stoned ass trying to explain it LOL ... ne who im not wanting to go huge i reall like the simplicity of the bubbleponic system i really would want to only flower maybe 6 - 8 plants at a time and since i have such a large space i can work out a nice veg chamber for my clones and i porbably would only need like 2 mother, thats 3 clones a time per plant. the veg chamber i would probably run cfl's high end of the spectrum probably 7000k on since that is my upstairs closet i can tap right into the bathroom exhaust fan and throw in nice carbon charcole and somce nice ventlation, for a flowering chamber i would like to run 2 250 hps lights and a few 2100k cfls lower on the sides to get the lower sides of the plants. i would also like to almost build a small wall on the front side out of drywall and hang close in there and make a hidden grow chamber to even make it more stealth if i did that i would be able to do some mylar through the whole thing. eh one day tho but ill settel for some decent free homegrown for now .... i also intend to sex these guys early once i get them a little bit up there i want to clone them and throw em on a 12 12 to find out how many boys and girls i got i think i would cry if i got all males lol

Looking at the first few pics, I swore I could hear those sprouts singing "We Shall Overcome", and then Taps started playing...

Definitely let those seeds germinate for waaaay too long. Next time around, plant them as soon as the root breaks through the seed shell - otherwise you get, well, what you got. A bunch of cotyledon vines laying in the dirt. EDIT: OOPS! I skimmed over the part about going on vacation while the seeds were germinating. Bummer! at least you learned to plan ahead, though, right?!

Anyways, congrats! I'm glad some of them pulled through. Survival of the fittest, right? Should be some resilient plants =)

lol i was trying to plan ahead it was litterly the old lady comeing home and saying hey lets go so at that point it was either trash em or let em roll and hope they still rocked out

What I love about plants is that *most* of them can handle a bit of neglect. I just rescued a cucumber vine from the compost! Poor little thing wasn't getting any light, so the leaves are pretty yellow - but it has a flower on it so I potted it up and brought it inside under some light. Too bad I'm going on vacation myself tomorrow, but maybe it'll pull through w/ some moral support from the other plants in there, lol.

ok here a question for ya guys, im not sure if my little guys are streching or if this is just how much there growing. tuesday when i put the all in there own pots i planted them right up to the leaves touching the soil, wensday when i got up in the mornin most of them had grownin almost 1 - 1 1/2 inches so yesterday when i was putting em to bed for there nap i filled soil in back to where it was touching the leaves, now this morning most of them have already gorwn another inch over night. the stems seem still pretty stron i mean u can touch em and there not gonna fall over at all i just didnt know if thats the norm or not ??

Also last night when i kick the light back on i checked on the a few hours latter and they were really really green like almost blue green they were so dark now from growing a normal garden i know that this usually means that they are pulling a lot of nutes into the plant so i threw some more lights in there i raised my one flurl buld up in the middle of them about 12"in above them and thrw 4 60watt normal soft white bulbs on them to try and help em out. But i guess my question is to induce the flowering stage i know u usualy use like a 2700k bulb on a 12/12 these are like 4000k bulbs and im running odd light schedual its more like a 17 on 5 off but they seem to be responding well but how important is it that i change these bulbs to like a 6500k or when you have normal light bulbs dose the spectrum matter as much ?? not to sure but im kickin my self in the ass right now because i just found a killer deal on a Sun Systems Reflector complete with a 600 Watt High Pressure Sodium ballast with built in timer for 150$ and i cant even find a way to get a 150$ right now : ( so ill just have to hope i can find another good deal like that when i do get the cash...

here are the updated pics i was talkin about, after doing a bit more reading on here i think i am gonna run them on 24 0 light schedual and see how they respond because when those lights are on man they just keep gettin bigger n bigger crazy... in one pic you can see i have a y splitter on the back shop light with 2 bulbs and then 2 other lamps in the front and a flurl in the middle i also have a small black fan i have had in closet with them but its a warmer day out so i had to open the doors and have the fan blow air in from the window for em, Also in one of the pics there is one plant i am worried about i really dont think its gonna make it the starter leaves are nice and green but no other leaves are showing so i duno. Also another close up of a single one i cant get over how deep green it looks and the stem is noticable thicker than the rest " pic is last one #3319" so im really excited to see what happens these next few days.

Good luck, should have made a cheap hydro system, or spend some of the money from this yield to do so.

some cash from this yield is what i was hopeing for to get a nice system, because i barely have enought to pay the house payment right this second...

man there lookin good! keep up the good work for sure! one big thing is dont over feed them with nutes and get that light as close as u possibly can!! thats the prob i had in the beggining they were to far away made them all streched out...anyways im going to go snap some of the girls befor the lights turn off for the night so peep my ish!

Well this morning i went to check on the girls and i think i might loose the one with out ne leaves yet and i think i might loose one to nute burn last night b4 i went to bed i noticed one with half of its leafe yellow and like almost dead well this morning the other leaf was looking the same so once the sun pops out today im gonna give her a good drink and put her in the real sun and see what happens. to top off my morning i brought down my best lookin girl she has been #1 since the start leaves have alwasy been bigger than the rest well i set it down on the table and went to grab my camera to get some more pics of her and what do i turn around to find.... my cat chomping down on my little girl..... i think i might of lucked out when i yelled the cat jumped and knocked the pot and it spilt some soild but i didnt see any roots so i just put some more soil around her and lucked out even more i dont think she hurt it but she was definatly looking droopy so i gave her a lil water and put her back under the light ill check on em in a bit and get you guys some updated pics.

Didnt even see ya post thx for stoppin by yah ive have a moist meter that i check the soil with daily and i really need to get the right bulbs b4 i drop em right down on top of em.

Just got word today a friend is brining me some females over that he had going outside that are starting to show sex they are about 4 1/2 - 5 ft tall already so hes going to bring em over and let me flower em because he is clueless about all of this so im really excited so ill be gettin some pics of them up when they arrive for sure

your using flouro and CFL's arent you? those are fine thats what im using beggingin to end and there just going to give me soem popcorn buds but damn its fun while your growing them lol

so just a question to anyone are these guys lookin good for 5 days? are they to streched? the stems feel strong i have had a fan on em movein em and helpin keep the temps down but i just want to know what you guys are thinkin on these
