Hey guys,

New to the forums here just needed some advice about the trichs. First harvest let me give you some info!

I'm about week 8 flower right now. Plant is 5"4 from the media up. Nice buds all over . The breeder said late September harvest but I wanted to keep a week or two more. Here's the thing... rain all week next week and cold temps so too prevent mold i started my flush last week and am planning to rip them on the weekend . The buds look mature and have many trichomes I just need help too see if their ready to harvest. If you guys can please check out the pics and let me know what u think! Was gunna pull in 3-4 days . Thankyou!

Having trichomes is not having "ripe" Trichomes

Edit: Welcome to RIU
Thanks for the quick reply! Yes I understand they need to be ripe I just have
No clue how to tell the difference between milky and clear trichs! How long you think I have left?

You need a 50-100x scope to really be able to get in there and see what things look like. That will tell you how much time is left.

This site will give you a lot of info and plenty of pics for examples on when to harvest, even if you don't have a microscope. They're preferrable though!
1st Method to Identify Harvest Time:
Pistil Method

Not Ready for Harvest Pictures
The vast majority of pistils (hairs) are still white and sticking out straight.
This is definitely too early to harvest, and these plants have many weeks to go!

Still Not Ready for Harvest Pictures
We’re waiting for at least half of the white hairs to darken and curl in. Some of the pistils are starting to turn color, but there are far less than 50% curled/darkened pistils. These buds still have several weeks to go before they’ll reach their highest levels of THC. The good news is your buds will get bigger and more dense in that time!

Does it feel like you’ve been waiting forever? Learn what causes marijuana to take a long time before being ready to harvest.

Ready for Harvest Pictures
Harvest when 60-70% of hairs have darkened for highest levels of THC.
Harvest when 70-90% of hairs have darkened for a more calming,
anti-anxiety effect as some THC turns to the more relaxing CBN.

With some strains, you may see a bunch of new pistils appear right when you think you’re getting close. This is normal, but it happens more than 3 times you’ve eventually got to just make the decision and chop. Learn how to speed up the time to harvest. Ok guys so I left them to ripen and have just been continuing to flush...I tested a sample and got blasted from a small bottom nug. It smelled like wet grass (cause I quick dried) but was really smooth and potent! I may rip
Em this week as 60-70% of hairs have darkened and Curled there hasn't been any new growth in a few days....I'm glad I kept them though .... just waiting for rain to pass so I can harvest without mold

The sun hasn't been around much here lately but with temps still well above frost I intend to wait as long as possible
New sunshine will mean accelerated growth as it begins to die for winter
Wait another week or two

Lol as I expected would happen did....seen the first signs of bud rot yesterday on some of the longer colas...removed the affected areas and harvested to reduce the damage. 3 days of rain Nd high humidity + cold weather did me in. Forecast calls for the same next week wasn't going to take the risk of it ruining the whole crop. Good news is took a sample and the weed was very potent :D thanks for the help guys
