Need advice on what hydro system to choose

Hey everyone this is my first post and I hope it finds everyone well.

I am currently finishing up my second grow. Its 4 plants is 5 gallon buckets dwc style. They are attached to a 50 gal reservoir. Tent is 3 x 6 with two 1000 watt (680 true watt) LED lights. This grow went great!

Now I am moving and my new grow space is 9 feet x 12 feet. The issue I'm facing is dwc is going to be a lot of water and I was hoping to switch to a sea of green. Let me know what everyone's ideas are for lights hydro setup and style of grow. Btw 50 Amp separate breaker in the new space

I did sog in dwc, but used multiple 50lt bins. Ran like 10 to a bin.

I just have a pump in the res running 24/7
Goes thru black hose and falls through holes i drilled into the plants netpot.

Roots sit on the table. And there are one inch risers on the drain holes to keep some water on the table.

Air pump in the res. And an air stone.

Lots of different ways to hydro. Just depends what you like.

I have a drain line with shutoffs connecting each of my resevoirs going to a hole in my flooor to outside.

When i fill them i run a garden hose from my kitchen sink to my grow room.

Hempy Buckets.

LP Aero. Run as many of these as you want. Run remote reservoirs to control temps and to make water maintenance easy. Fairly simple on the DIY scale. Would be great for sog/scrog IMO.
Hydro is only as good as the user, and they can all be great. SOG narrows it down some. NFT, Aero, DWC, are your main options simply from a spacing scale. Not entirely because as soon as I say that someone will post a picture contradicting it.

Hempys all day long

It is the amount of vegetation you have and the amount of evaporation that determines water usage when using media. In dwc to save water massively oversize Rex which will result in fewer water changes. Aero would probably be the logical step for you. But I love hempys been from soil to aero and back but I find rockwool top feed the best. Recirc and drain to waste

Sea of Green (sog) was invented in Amsterdam using Ebb and flow hydroponics. Go small plant if not worried about plant count.

Speaking of oversized reservoirs.i currently use a 50 gallon for 4 plants in 5 gallon buckets gallon rdwc. And I change the resevoir every 10 days days in flowering. Could I go longer? I use reverse osmosis water as my water is garbadge here and it takes forever.

Yes you could if you upped that to 100 gallon then the water chemistry stays stable for longer, I’m not saying wIth. 1000gallon res you would never need to change it. But it would require so much less maintenance.

Just out of curiousity. What do you top up ur reservoir up with? I’m guessing weak nutrient solution?

No. I use equal nutes. So right now I'm week 3 of flowering and my ppm is 575. Every two days it drops about five gallons. So I add 5 gallons of 575 ppm

Ok I’m not having a go at you here just trying to help. Stop adding nuTes to ur res as top ups. When ur res is depleted you have no idea of the levels of specific minerals in the water. One mineral may be still at normal level, then you add another dose to replenish the res and that mineral suddenly hits toxic levels. You have no way of knowing which macros and micros have been used up and which haven’t. A ppm test will only tell u the grand total of dissolved minerals in the water which is still useful but in no way does it tell you the ratio of N-P-K. It’s a sure fire way to get toxicity’s. Play it safe either add only water to get u by until you do full res change or do a full res change straight away.

You CAN get by doing what you’re doing but it is by no means ideal.

I grow via RDWC and usually have around 60 gallons total. It doesn't matter where inside you plan on growing, and using a certain amount of water. A 5 gallon water spill in a room can still cause significant damage. A better approach is to build a system to account for spills.

With my setup, I framed a 6' x 4' x 4" spill tray that all my components sit in. It can hold around 80 gallons, so if my entire system were to flood, it would all be contained.

You can build one for well under $100. Anytime you're dealing with a good amount of water in a room not meant for it, you really have to plan in advance, because spills do, and will happen with hydro.

I always go the whole grow with around 60 gallons in my RDWC, and never flush unless an issue arises. If you maintain the water and feeding properly, the soup will be stable. Temps are extremely important in maintaining good water. If I start to smell something funky, I do an immediate flush, and another fill and flush, then plain water for a day or two. That funky smell is a dead giveaway. I have absolutely no smell coming from my water.

And my RDWC averages around 60 gallons, so i think 100 gallons would be overkill for the number of sites.
