Need advise about where to live in Colorado

Well I am strongly considering making the move to Colorado next spring but I'm not very familiar with the majority of the state. I want to live in a rural area since I'm moving there to start an organic produce farm. But I would like to live in a county that is mmj friendly and not full of religious wackos. It also needs to be by a hospital or some kind of medical center because my wife is an RN. I'm from Utah and I love my state but I need to get away from the crazy mormons.

Weld county isn't too bad up north, but don't move to Laramer county unless its outside of Fort Collins city limits. FoCo has bad pot laws and lots of extra permits.
I hear further south is alot better, like Colorado Springs area, but I have no real idea since I've only lived in and checked up on Fort Collins when I first moved here, and then Weld county when I found out how screwed up FoCo is and moved out

I hear grand junction is kind of anti mmj too.

Anyone know about Pueblo? Or Alamosa?

Depends how rural you're wanting to be.. and how much snow you can handle how far up the mountain you want to be too.. There's a new hospital in Woodland Park right up highway 24 with the beautiful sight of Pikes Peak. All the ski town helicoptors deliver to the new hospital right there and theres about a 20min commute down the pass to Colorado Springs. You could also try Elizabeth or Franktown which is not too bad a commute to Parker Hospital and is in the top part of the Black Forest so there's lots of tree properties out there. Conifer outside of Denver has the small commute down the mountain but the super rural properties where you might need 4x4 for the driveway.. And lastly I'd suggest Boulder area just cuz they're super liberal and that might be a breath of fresh air for you right now--mormons and all

Denver/Boulder area or Colorado Springs. Say no to Pueblo. I lived there for a few years and had to get out. It's a tiny little Los Angeles. Pueblo has one or maybe two dispensaries total now too. They haven't really lightened up on the mmj thing like the other cities I've mentioned. You're gonna love Colorado!

I would check out the Paonia area, Colorado's green belt! Paonia even has a weed named after it!

Thanks for the advise guys. I'm leaning towards the park county area right now. Boulder looks pretty cool. Property seems expensive though. And I'm looking to purchase 300+ acres.

well with that much land you probably know whether you want mountain or plains. Most places in the mountains if you buy 300 acres you are going to get far less usable acres than on the plains and less usable daylight.

Much of Park County can be inaccessible in winter - be sure you have County maintained access to the property.
Land in the area is cheap, but no industry for jobs, and severe winter weather limit the value of land.

I just moved to Colorado springs a month ago and absolutely LOVE IT!!! Of coarse I'm coming from Ohio so I guess anywhere in Colorado I would end up loving.

stay out of Park County--there's an old saying "Park County Colorado; come on vacation, leave on probation." -fyi
