Need Help Fast, What should I do?

Hey all, I was tending the girls when I bumped the extension cord lose. The light turned out. Then I plugged it back in a second or two later the light wouldn't turn on. Ballast still made the same distinctive hum, but no light.

I called the hydro store guy and he said the 1000w system I have has a cool down feature. Said if that happens it wont allow the bulb to turn on until the ballast is cooled down. Said it would take like 5-10 minutes.

It's been 30 minutes now. Strangely enough the light went out at 4:20. I put an old CFL setup I had over my girls for now. But my lights don't normally go out until 8:00p.m. Should I just turn the lights down early? Leave the insufficient 6 bulb CFL setup on till 8? Will my light even turn on tomorrow? The bulb is like 160 bucks. Please don't tell me it goes out just by turning off.

I'm no HID expert so I'll pass on that, your safe either just using the cfls to keep them imprinted on your present light schedule or leave it dark that doesn't hurt either.
I got a bad feeling about your light though, I've heard this story before.

Leave the cfl set up going just the same as your HID. Keep your fingers x'd and hope it turns on tomorrow morning. If not you may need a new bulb

Well it's a 1000w. It was on for 7 1/2 hours strait. So, VERY hot ballast and bulb. Even after 30 minutes it they are too hot to touch. I turned the light off completely and hopefully she turns on tomorrow. The bulb is only like 3 months old.

Im thinking if you heard the hum when you plugged it back in you may be shit out of luck. If the cool down feature was working I dont think you would have heard the hum. Let it cool try it tomorrow, with fingers crossed.

There is one good thing about CFLs you never have to worry about blowing a bulb or ballast and end up with hundreds in replacement parts, you can just run down to the local 24hr Hardware and pick a few more bulbs up at anytime pretty much anywhere.

Hopefully yours is ok. My buddy did the same thing you did and his would not turn back on untill a good 45-50 minutes passed.

No luck this moring ya'll, bummer. Hydro guy said to bring it in and let him check it out. But who knows. I got the cfl setup, thank god. But will replace the bulb Friday if need be. Thanks everyone for your very quick help. Appriciate it a lot.

And yes, I am pissed. So pissed.
