So i recently bought a T5 lighting system. 8000 Lums 6400k bulbs in right now. I wanted to know how long i should set the timer for. i was thinking 18 on and 6 off. Right now i got some bag seeds going but i am waiting on some Feminized grand daddy purple seeds to get here so i wanna get this info right. im using miracle grow garden soil. Website say 8-9 weeks to flower. so does that mean at 9 weeks cut it back to 12/12? Mind you i am somewhat of a noob at this still. this is only my second grow and first under T5. how long should i wait to start feed plant and what should i feed it? what is a good fertilizer to use for veg? any help is appreciated

You know, not tryin to be an ass, but everyone of those questions would have been answered in about two minutes, (without even looking very hard) on this forum.
8-9 weeks of flower means that is how long they usually take to finish once you start flowering. 18/6 for lighting will be OK. I usually wait till third set of leaves or so before I begin feeding. All kinds of nutes will work with good results. I use Botanicare nutes. I use the Pro Grow, Pro Bloom and Liquid Karma and have had very good results, and i can get a pack with all three in 8 oz. bottles for less than 20 bucks and will get through a whole grow. Just got some new nutes in mail today that I will use on my current babies and see how it does. It's called Veg and Bloom which is a granular fertilizer that you dissolve in water. Not sure if you Miracle Gro soil has time release nutrients in it or not, but a lot of miracle gro stuff does. If it does, be very careful how much and how often you water. A lot of people do not like Miracle gro, I think it's OK to use if you have too, but the the built in nutes get you in trouble more time than not and I have never had A Miracle Gro crop that ever matched up to what I grew in the soil I mix up and real nutes. But the best advice I can give is, don't over think everything.

It's a plant, people grow all kinds of plants in their houses. If you planted tomatoes in your garden, all you would do is water them, maybe feed them and you will have a crop. And I bet you wouldn't check on them 30 times a day either. Weed is the same. Your first couple of grows, your harvest's won't be killer, but you also won't have a ton of money in a crop that you had to throw out.
There are a thousand posts on RIU about people worrying about the PH of their water, whether it's RO or tap water, if it has chlorine, are temps and humidity perfect and a million other things. I don't have time for any of that, I work way too many hours. Would my crops be better if I did all of that? Hell yeah, I'm not an idiot, I would love to have the time to spend with my plant's to do that and a lot more. I would love to go hydro. But my weed still fucks you up, there is just less of it. But i still get a half ounce to an ounce a plant average with CFL's, and there are six in the tent flowering now with eight on the 4th week of veg in a separate chamber. I have more than enough weed. I just scored a 400 watt grow light but have been too busy to hang it. That should improve yields a bit.
Sorry, I just got off work and am catching a buzz so I'm kinda rambling here, but my point is, learn to grow the plant before you get into the more advanced techniques, and you will be very happy and not kill so many plant's. Then after a couple of good basic grows you can step things up a notch or two. And good luck, hope those beans make it to you safely.
