Ok so I have a perpetual cycle setup to harvest a 4 plant scrog every month. Batch A was just harvested last week, and batch B has a few weeks left in flowering. With the first round the plants developed some sort of deficiency around the third week of flowering (necrosis on the leaf tips, blade tips, and some spotted necrosis, which all resulted in stunting) We diagnosed it to possibly be cal or mag deficiency and started adding epsom salts before buying cal mag. We also lessened the amount of PH up that we were giving the plants, dropping the PH to around 6.1-6.2. This seemed to correct the problem. It didn't seem to get any worse, and batch B and batch C were doing excellent.
So now batch B, in week 5 of flowering, has started suddenly showing severe signs of deficiency. We switched PH up to a different brand because the store stopped carrying the one we had been using. Our PH meter is broken, but we used a drop indicator to try and match the new PH levels with the old since we were giving them a fixed amount. After a flush and then the first watering/feeding there was pronounced necrosis, particularly spotting of the leaves on the older growth, eventually leading to complete death of the entire leaf if it isn't clipped off before.
Again with our new problem it seemed like cal/mag deficiency (particularly calcium) and it's decidedly a cause of either a PH issue that is causing lockout, or simply needing calcium. So now we added cal/mag and upped the PH slightly but the problem isn't corrected. It's been nearly two weeks and things keep progressing in the wrong direction and it needs to be fixed!
Here is what we have going on:
Master Kush Scrog
5 gallon pots with promix bx/perlite mix
1000w hps
temp at 80
Water every third day with 1 gallon per plant and nutrient mixture as follows per 1 gallon:
2tsp growbig
2tsp tiger bloom
1/4 tsp cha-ching
1/8 cup big bloom
1/2 tsp cal/mag
(PH up was 1/8 cup for 4 gallons with the mad farmer, now at 1/2tsp for 4 gallons with the new stuff)
We adjusted with our last watering and did 2 plants at a 3/4 tsp ratio for PH up while keeping the other 2 at the 1/2 tsp ratio....no noticeable difference between the two after 3 days.
The problem isn't getting corrected and any input would be greatly appreciated. Thankfully we have a perpetual setup and we can hopefully tweak things back to health soon, it would be nice to make it through by the third batch without any major issues. Batch C is 2 weeks into flowering and looking green and healthy as can be, it would be a shame to see it start to deteriorate around week 4 like the last 2 rounds.
We flush with 2 gallons per plant of plain water about every 4 weeks and water and feed with the above schedule every third day. thoughts on Calcium deficiency? Nutrient lockout because of PH imbalance? Overfeeding? Hope to get some help here...
