Need Some Input.

So i was just wanting some input on a story concept im starting to develop for a book.

Okay this is an extreme nutshell version of what im writing.

Its 2015 and a major space race is ignited between the United States of America and the Peoples Republic of China, other nations compete but none join the race that can keep up with China and the US. A war between China and the US erupts and world war 3 follows shortly after. I will have military and political aspects as well as detailed military engagements, there will also be engagements that take place in space but with technology that is not too far ahead of our current level of tech.

Does this sound like something you would read.

Why would there be another space race when we're already in space?

no idea...the way i pick books to read is to read the last page, the first page, and a random middle page...

if i ain't hooked by then back it goes...

Maybe if it had a good reason why we would want to get sum where in space...like helium3.

So a science fiction book with politics in it? Nope, wouldn't get passed the first mention of politics lol. Skip the politics and add a soldier to follow through world war three, kinda like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Then bounce back and forth between what china and the USA are doing as far as getting the project finished. Add some failed tests with a small story of the soldier's life that volunteered for the project and died half way to mars. ..... yaaaa

And no its not nascar in space, although....

No a space race to get to mars, much like us and russia had over the moon. Im thinking the war will break out over a major security breach by china via hacking and the like. There has to be some politics in it, but im not delving deeply into that. I really want to concentrate it from the soldiers point of view.

Set the time around 2030, involve China sabotaging the America's plans for a manned exploration Mars in the 2030s, so that China can land first, thereby starting a space race. Sounds plausible enough.

I firmly believe you Need to have some level of Political bullshit.. Just make sure that Whatever the fuck they are starting war over, Makes no fucking sense and majority vote would be a Nay yet they do it anyways and we have to pay for the aftermath. That'll make it legit since we all Know how Politics work...:\

Agreed, i wanted to villanize the american government as well as the chinese government. I really dont want to portray our government as being the good guys, because at this point in time i dont view my government as good guys or any government for that matter.
