Need some opinions

Hello all! I have been on this forum now for a good time just lurking around . And i thought i mine as well start off with this.. I have a few questions for the fellow gardeners out there. So dont be shy to shout out any tips, or remarks.

1) A friend of mine is currently growing in a closet grow, and here are some ghetto' cell phone pics of his grow. I was curious to see what you guys thought of the plants, and how they look. He has them on 12/12 now with about 5 desk lamps and a small fan, and a run-off drainage system. Anyone else ever grow w/ about 400watts of desk lamps before? results? yield? Thanks guys!

Also i am going to be growing some T44 under similar conditions soon. I am going to be using the Organic miracle grow(looked ike the best they had at home depot), with some african violet feed (anyone ever use either products? results?). I will be growing in a closet, in 12x12 pots. As for light i will be using aboout 400watts of desk lamps also, intill about flowering time, i will hopefully have enough to buy a 400w hps set off ebay.

get your lights closer to the plants, they are already too stretched

Your "friend" needs to do alot more research and different lights. Those are no where close being ready for 12/12.

Are those really incadecsnts? First thing, those gotta go. Repalce with 6500k daylight cfl's for veggin, the highest watts/lumens u can get. Also, if that's foil, get rid of it, it'll do more harm than good as it's not actually very reflective and can and will create hot spots which will burn the plants. Mylar is much better, and even just white paint is more reflective than the foil.

The fixtures don't matter so much as the type of bulb... if by 'desk lamp', you mean incandescent... that's bad. Put some CFLs in there, you'll use less power, have less heat(so you can put them closer), and get better(more useful to the plant) light.

Yeah definitely stretched!!! hahaha get some better lights and veg them for a bit before going to 12/12.

I used the organic MG and it sucked!! I did a comparison grow about 1 year ago with 3 different MG soils. The regular MG potting soil won. All the other specialty brands sucked ass. Especially the Organic. Could have just been me but I doubt it. Weed tasted like shit compared to pro-mix, FF OF, or Hempy.
