They're not too bad if you're buying them for DIY and underdriving. I have 1 of those Lohas 100W arrays, and it works fine...

@SupraSPL was saying in a thread a few months ago that if you underdrive them a certain amount, they are comparable in $/PAR W startup cost to a vero driven at a high current.

I think you could do a lot better with vero, cxa, or cxb, but even those 100W multichips would do fine assuming it's not part of an overpriced prebuilt system.

Turns out the $11 100W Lohas is the same as these 100W for $5 each. Lunacity88 is a great seller, just make sure to check each one for proper function, it is common to receive a damaged one that still lights up and takes full power but only puts out half the light it is supposed to.

I grabbed a 50W cool white to compare and it honestly sucked, half the efficiency of the warm white 100W.

If you run the generic 100W warm white 150mA (5W), it is about the same efficiency as CXA3070 3K AB runnning at 50W. So if you consider the 100W generic as a 5W COB for $5, it is decent competition for the $4.37 Vero 10, except the vero 10 has a flat mounting surface and the generic COBs are often slightly warped. No big deal when running at 5W though.

I thank so many for talking here. I think people tell me not to say it but I feel like I need to explain. I have a head injury an have a very hard time with a lot of things now and am sorry if I am a pain for any of you. I used to be able to do a lot I can tell you when computers first came out I did a lot the first tandy color when I was in high school first think I did was make a old store recept printer into printer for it program dos and turned in home work on it drive teachers crazy on little 1 or 2 inch paper but worked and all ways built own and family computers since but now like wires crossed in my head it zaps out by to much light have to wear sun glasses all ways to much noise have to have ear plugs all ways and to hard to think about stuff zaps it bad a lot of pain. so any way, I am trying to say sorry to not be better at understanding this but know I can not try to understand the numbers any more so am hoping if some one could please let me know if these

Yes it would work. The drivers would put out about 1.3A so you should get ~42W each. Based on lux/W measurements, I estimate you could get 30% efficiency if all of the COBs were functioning correctly and well cooled. Cost is $0.40/PAR W not including driver and heatsink. That is about the equivalent performance and cost of running a Vero 18 or Vero 29 at near max.

It may be able to outperform HPS. One downside might be the labor of constructing the lamp.

I have sympathy for head injuries man, there is nothing like having your brain messed with. I have inner ear chaos that can cause vertigo and dizziness and cost me hearing in one ear, have to wear ear plugs when I go out etc. But it makes you appreciate other things in life, the Fight Club effect when you get your ass kicked you see more clearly maybe.

thank you so much I have no more money so have to wait I thik thy say 4 weeks to get here to returen for money back to get other ones. know not the best but to cloudy for window to work ok can not do hps any more do you thing this new plan is any sense or just to retarded or any better idea for no very much money

Also if you are flowering I would suggest straight warm white, but that is just my conjecture, others have had success with neutral and cools mixed in. Probably depends on whether you grow indica or sativa dom.

I think if I get money back for return it will be about 100
can any one tell me if ther is a smartes way to go for smartest cob and driver for a few plant for 100 and sorry have to stop for today getting to bad

Yes if you ran that Vero you linked on those drivers you would get a very good match, 42W ea, ~36% efficient and cost ~$0.90/PAR W

Im looking to build my own fixture with two Vero 29 3000k but its my first build and would like to get an a couple efficient but inexpensive drivers can you recommend a few thanks.

I think there are plenty of people who can help you, I would suggest creating your own thread. Posting your questions under someone else's can cause your questions to be overlooked due to the fact people are only opening the thread based on the title and usually to answer the OP questions.
