New but old LOL

Hello everyone

I'm a little stoned right now so if you want to just get to the question without my long explanation skip to the bottom LOL

I am not new to smoking but I took a big gap while my kids were little and then now all of the sudden it seems to be a whole new world of what I used to just call pot.. LOL I think the fanciest thing we had was Purple Haze back in the day. Without trying to smoke every single one ...I found so far that I like Kosher Kush the best, be nobles Purple empire and indica princess as well. I literally tried like 20 different strains already.

Now for my question is Kosher Kush and OG Kush the same? I keep getting different answers.

Also did anyone else not believe that there was a difference at first in strains and then realized there is such a difference? LOL

Thanks everyone ☺

No. They are similar, as Kosher Kush comes from the OG Kush Family, but Kosher is a clone only strain. To get it in seed form it would have to be a backcross or reversal (S1).

Always keep in mind that strain names can be superfluous. With verified clones you know what your getting. So for example if you got cuts of the original Kosher Kush they will grow up exactly like the original. But with seeds there will likely be variations. And especially with the really popular names like OG Kush you'll find a bunch of different examples available. If you buy a pack of OG Kush seeds from Humboldt and a pack from Royal Seeds, they could end up completely different. When it comes to seeds, names are really just guidelines that suggest what the outcome could be.

I always knew there was a difference in strains even going back to our beasters days, but what surprised me was how different phenotypes could be within strains. I remember when I was a teenager this guy would always claim to be selling Iranian but every bag he had was different. We thought the dude had smoked too much of his own supply. When I got older and learned about phenotypes it suddenly clicked. He probably was growing all Iranian seeds, he was just getting different phenos across all his plants so the end product would vary bag to bag.
