Hey guys, long time lurker. I've had my runs with a few autos and they turned out well. My situation changed and I wasn't able to get another harvest in. My situation now allows me to get this going again and I'm starting over New. I'd like your feedback as well as opinions on this as I know things have changed.

Here's the list of what I have in my cart as of right now.

40x40x79 grow tent

Hurricane 430cfm inline fan for cooling the 600w light

Apollo 600w with cool tube. I chose this route because I've seen this light used. Seems worth it to me.

240 ventech cfm booster fan for intake into the tent.

This will be placed in a 7x10x10 unfinished room in a finished basement. Temps stay at around 68 all year.

Is this a sufficient setup to provide good air flow And keep temps low? Is this a good setup in general? Is there anything I'm currently missing? Any and all help would be appreciated. Thank you.

with the apollo ballast........always keep it at 100% never dim it

and the basement unfinished i would poly it up and make sure u have a good intake air cleaner (other wise u get that basement weed taste)

Only the room is unfinished. So I should ditch the tent and use that room then? I'm just trying to avoid unnecessary spending.

ditch the tent for sure get panda film or mylar for the walls and ceiling and panda film or ceramic tiles for the floor. might want to bump up to a 1000w light for the area also, keep the hurricane and use it for cooling the light

I've thought about this before. The only problem with this is my sump, air conditioning and water heater are all in this room. To fully Mylar the room I'd have to build a smaller room inside that room and I fear I'd lose too much space. It is an option however I'm trying to keep costs down below 1000 at the moment.

even cheaper way to build the wall frame is use 1/2" pvc cost less than wood and nails and can be taken down whenever you want to

most defiantly would outweigh getting a tent and would most likely cost less. If i had a room i could grow in i would ditch my tent in a heart beat and use it only for germ and early veging, or as a drying tent.

you can build the wall kinda like this but to the size that you need

I like the idea of pvc pipe. Never thought of that before. I still feel like I'm technically building a tent. I'm assuming what I've chosen is enough air flow to keep my 600w and my babies cool.

Just think of it this way the bigger the room the easier it is to keep cool the 430cfm fan will draw most of the heat out and away from the hood. oh wait i forgot to ask are you using or going to be using an air cooled hood? if not that fan is still big enough to move the heat out of the area

op dumb question shoulda reread your getting a cool tube and oh yeah more then enough to cool that 600w

I'm gonna be using a cool tube with the setup.

With the size room you can use and equipment your looking at minus the tent i would doubt you would see the temps rise more than a degree or two

Is a purpose built room, or a tent better? Obviously a room is better.

That being said, I think tents get a bad reputation around here. It's not hard to slap up two 1000 watt hps air cooled hoods in a 5x10 tent and yield 3.5 lbs.

I'd like to see most of the tent naysayers (shit-talkers) yield better.

(edit) P.S. dont use cool tubes, they suck

While stealthiness isn't really an issue, I do like things for things to not be in the open. I started with a tent and grew a few dinafem white widow autos (awesome smoke btw) with it originally. Horrible problems with temps. I'm trying to avoid the problems I had originally. I looked over the room and the way it's designed (sump on the left, water heater, air system on right) the majority of the space that is open is in the center of the room. In the event something ever went wrong with these I still need access to them. If I required a professional to come, i'd hate to have to tear a room down for that. The only feasible way I could go without a grow tent would be to make a false wall like screediu mentioned, using pvc. I could move the walls when needed if I ever needed access to those... I could expand the size as needed for the growth of the plants.. It would probably cost me as much to seal the room off completely from light, and build the walls as it would buying a tent. so i'm gonna have to re work my list..
