I'm going to be starting a grow in two closet areas. In one area I will keep one or two mothers, and clones under cfls and tubes. In the flower closet I planned on buying two 250 security lights and making air-cooled reflectors. I have all the necessary tools and this wouldnt be difficult. BUT money is not that much of an issue and if I could spend a little more and get a much better grow light I would probably do it.

I had planned on growing with soil in a scrog. I hadnt determined the number of plants, yet. Recently, after seeing such great hydro results on riu, I've felt that if I had the right system that I could handle the nutrients. Im not terribly dumb, and I'll do research. I thought about a coco perlite mixture, so i would still water the plants directly.

I have a 2x3x7 area to flower, which is why I planned on a scrog, to maximize my light and control height (it could be possible to put two flower cabs on top of eachother if i can get the lights close).

Also, I can ventilate above, into the attic, and then use diy odor methods from there. I can also draw clean air from the room that the closet is in.

I would like to set up another grow cab soon, also. I would like to be able to yield at least half a pound per month, so that means each cab will have to yield 8 oz after 8 weeks of flowering and 4 weeks of vegging. How many plants would be required?

I'm not decided on any of this and I'm still really working things out. Can I handle the hydro on my first grow? How many plants should i put in that area? is building my own lights worth the time?

sorry its so long im just trying to include everything, to let people know what i'm working with because ill probable need some help. lol

Congratulations on your grow...

You will need approximately 15-25 plants - the number of seeds depends on the the strain you are growing. Every strain is different. So research the strain and find out the average yield per plant - then you will know exactly how many plants you will need.

For example - I am growing a strain that yields 600-700 grams per plant. So do your research on seeds/strains.

Rather or not you can handle hydro is up to you. I recommend soil because soil is so much more forgiving then hydro. When things go wrong with hydro they really go wrong and you can stand to lose your entire crop if you're not careful.

Lights? It is cheaper to purchase lights in a set that includes the hood, ballast, and bulb.

If you are going to purchase good quality equipment - it can get a little expensive but worth it!!!

Purchase quality soil, lighting, fans, and seeds etc...

Have everything you need before you introduce plants that way everything will be at your finger tips....

Good luck
