Hi all

I am new to growing have just got 10 x seeds of Double gum.

I want to try just growing 1 plant and was going to start germinating the seed later.

My question is for lighting i was going to use this light below,does this seem ok for just 1 plant or would you go for more watts.see below

125W ENVIROLITE Grow Lamp / Light - 6400K Veg - New on eBay, also Hydroponics, Plants Seeds Bulbs, Garden Plants, Home Garden (end time 24-Jul-08 20:50:58 BST)

Or you can get it with the reflector which i thought was quite cool

125w ENVIROLITE 6400K Grow Lamp / Light + SL Reflector on eBay, also Hydroponics, Plants Seeds Bulbs, Garden Plants, Home Garden (end time 24-Jul-08 22:00:53 BST)

Thanks for the help in advance all

Peace:peace::mrgreen:

First may I suggest that unless you have bought fem. seeds that you start at least two plants because odds are you are going to get at least one male. You would probably be ok with that light for one small plant, but I would recommend getting a small HPS light(175watt/250watt). It will produce much nicer buds than with the envirolight could ever hope to. Peace

Thank's for the advice and i was thinking the same about starting atleast 2 plants.

Would that envirolite be ok for the veg stage and then switch to a hps for the flowering stage.

Just short of cash this month and would like to make a start.

What should i be looking to pay for a 250 watt hps and ballast aswell as i don't want to get ripped off somewhere

High Tech Garden Supply is a good online store with good service and good prices you can get a 250 watt hps for like 120 dollars plus shipping or you can get the same set-up with the MH conversion bulb as well for 170 dollars plus shipping. What ever one you get I would recomend a HPS ballast over a MH ballast if your not going to get the one with the MH conversion bulb.

Its a lot harder to find a HPS conversion bulb for a MH ballast than it is to find a MH conversion bulb for a HPS ballast. Thats why I would recommend the HPS ballast so you can easyily swith to run MH conversion bulb if you ever choose to. Peace
