New Growroom In Progress [Pics]

Hey folks,

I just harvested a few weeks ago and decided to improve my grow room a little. Sooo... after the last plant was plucked, I tore the old room down and began construction of anew. I'll be reusing some of the old equipment, as well as adding a fair bit of new goodies. Here's what I have to work with:

Since my basement is not finished, the rafters provide me with an excellent opportunity to construct a sturdy room. I begin by erecting an outline of the room with 2x4s.

...making sure to keep the ballasts outside to decrease heat.

The 2x4s were then covered in 5mil black & white poly, and a door was created using an adhesive zipper strip.

For the flooring, vinyl will be used. It's gonna be a bitch laying it flat :<

Anyways, that's what I've accomplished in the last two days. I've still got electrical work, plumbing, ventilation, and overall setup of the flowering room to do, as well as the whole veg room. There will be plenty more pics, and even a grow journal (when it's done), coming soon, so keep watching.

P.S. Oh, and ya... that is a growzilla light with 2x 1000w bulbs ;)

--Thanks, bbike1.

Well, today was a slightly productive day. I hung the water filter unit and temp/humidity gauge up and placed the vinyl. Then I duct taped all around the room, covering up staples and any holes that could cause air leaks.

Since I have two unused exhausts running along my ceiling, I decided to cut one short and throw a fan on it to exhaust my hood. So, when I hang my hood up, I will have the fan pulling air from outside the room, through the hood, and push it back outside.

really dont know what your surrounding light will be outside your flower chamber but those zippers dont work.i have the same zippers but what i ended up doing was running a additional flap of black and white with velcro as fastners down the doorway.also staple a couple of skate laces to your header there and you have a way to hold it up to service your room.hope this helps!!!! great set up !!!

I have two separate entrances for the rooms to avoid this problem. But thanks for the heads up on the zipper. I'm thinking that I am going to have other problems with it. Theoretically, the whole room will be airtight, with the exception of the door. I have been trying to think of an alternative method to make a more airtight door. Maybe adding the outer velcro layer will add a bit more protection....

Thanks everyone else for the positive comments. Any feedback is more than welcome.

Hey folks,

I've sorta neglected this thread a bit, so it's time for an update! The grow room is pretty much done and running. All that's really left is to run hosing for the CO2 tank, and possibly buy a CO2 sensor. Anywho, take a look!

The 25,000btu A/C unit has been hard wired in and is in place to be pushed through the wall of the grow room if I need it. However, the temperature is being controlled rather well by the fans exhausting the hood.

The hood has been mounted on a light rail over the table:

The ballasts positioned under one end of the table:

And the table as a whole:

I'm in the process of germinating some seeds, as well as rooting some clones. As soon as everything is set up, a grow journal will be established and the true power of the 2,000w Growzilla hood will be seen!

Whats up AR, Good job on everything. I actually have a couple of questions regarding the growzilla. I am about to get one and cant find a good description of the reflector. even on the hydrofarm website and catolog its doesnt say. I was wondering what size ducting holes does it have and can you change then by changing the flange? also, how wide is the whole unit? the specs say 21inches but i found that to be kinda hard to believe. I am going to get one regardless soon. thank you very much for your time

Hydrokronics,

The Growzilla hood uses 6" ducting, which unfortunately is not interchangeable. Also, it does not come with the sockets, so you'll need two (~40.00$ each) of those. The good news, however, is that it really isn't as big of a monster as some proclaim it to be. It really is only 21" wide...

I ordered one right after i posted my least message. i couldt take it anymore. i had to have one. after looking at your setup i needed to upgrade. my daystar isnt giving me the coverage im hoping for. Thnk you for all you help though man i really appriciate it. One other question is are you running your system on standard 15amp circuits and just using two? or are you using something better. Thanks again man +rep

Congrats man, your going to have fun with it. As for the electrical question... That's a sore subject with me at the moment. You see, my house doesn't have a sump pump, yet has wire ran specifically for one. I was informed that all the houses in my area had this wired in on a dedicated circuit. Well, I figured that if I spliced that wire and ran it to my grow room, I would only have to put in one more circuit for everything else. So, without checking to make sure the pump was truly on a circuit of its own, I only ran one circuit, then replaced all the sheet rock, moved stuff back, etc. Sooo... I went to fire up both lights and POOF! Blew a breaker. Turns out that the sump pump wasn't a dedicated circuit, so now I have to tare out all that damn sheet rock again and re-run another wire. Ugh.. I hate doing electrical work.

aww that sucks bro, im sorry. damn so i guess that answer the question of whether or not a 15 amp fuse can run two 1000w's. It sucks once you have reached max power possibilities. Also how much did you pay for your growzilla (if you dont mind me asking) Thanks for your time
