Ok whats up fellas I am not sure if my 400watt hps is big enough for my plant. How high above the plant should i hang it?

How big is ur plant and how many are u doing? What size is ur growspace. As for the distance hold ur hand uner it and when it feels comfortable for ur hand it will be comfortable for them. If they begin curling upward lift it an inch

yeah.. a 400watter should be plenty big enough for one plant, unless it is a friggin tree that is.. i grew two nice sized plants under a single 250 my last grow, with pretty good results.. under a 400 you should be able to support a couple of plants no problem..
i think i just saw a 400 watt club around here the other day, it is for people who grow with a 400, and it would be a good place for you to check out what others have achieved under one..

generally you want a 400 to be about 18 inches from the top of the plant.... move it down to a foot if you have an air cooled hood

The Plant has been topped twice and and about a 11-12 ft perimeter. It is only one plant but im worried that my next set of plants there will not be enough light.

i grew 65 plants in 2 spots. one 4 by 4 and a 10 by 10. i had a 400hps and 2 100s in the 4 by 4 with about 15 plants in 2 gallon grow bags. the 10 by 10 had like 40 plants in 2 gal bags. i used 4 2 tube floros 4 feet long to suplement side light. i was able to grow 65 plants to harvest under those lights....now im gonna grow 3 plants under both the 400 and 600 and the floros. in the 10 by 10 room. im growing these plants in 30 gallon buckets to see if there is a difference.

Ima give you a good tip: buy panda film and cover all wall! (reflection is important) and for the 400w it dont make lotta head so like the guy said put it at a distance where u dont feel much heat when u put ure hand on top of your plant!

Ill pass on the mylar bro! I would rather invest in some drywall and make a small room. Flat WHite is better ;]
