New Member -- Homebox Help

Hey all! I've been reading through threads all day and found a lot of useful info but of course some of it is over my head and I don't want to waste my cashola.

I've tried to grow a few times in the past but hell, that was before the internet was really popular. So yeah, those experiments failed.

I need to go the tent route as I'm just a renter and this is going to be a small project. Really liked the Homebox XS (23.5 x 23.5 x 47.25).

  • Will one Sun System 150w HPS be enough or is that only used for flowering?
  • I saw a lot of talk about Cooltubes. Is that better than the Sun System one?
  • Do the lights come with stuff to attach them to the Homebox or do I need hooks and chains?
  • With the duct fans I saw people talk about 6" and 8" fans. Can you just plug these into an outlet or do I have to do something crazy?
  • Do these fans need tubes on the outside? I saw a few people with them

Any suggestions on what brand/type of fan to buy would be really appreciated. Seems like some people went the Home Depot route. I'm trying to keep the budget on this between 300-500 bucks so my wife doesn't kill me :twisted:

Found some info about only needing the HPS. It says that they are deficient in the blue spectrum. Is this correct? So would you use another "blue" light in conjunction with the HPS? OR would you swith the lights out when you went to flowering mode?

Also, are ballast needed for the HPS light? I'm trying to figure out what they do and I'm just not getting it.

You can make a small cabnit a lot cheaper then you can buy one
You can buy a complete setup at htgsupply.com they are good people check it out

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I'm not very good at building things from scratch. I'll check out htgsupply. Another head told me they were worth checking out. @yonig some one told me to get a metal halide conversion bulb so I could use that first then switch to the hps.

If cash is a issue you can veg and flower with both MH AND HPS I have veged with a HPS before and wasnt to bad
Alot of the balests now can run MH or HPS do some shopin
