New nft system I’m testing out

I’ve never used rock wool before or nft. I just got this NFT system for free to test out so I figured I’d give it a go .

If it works out I may use it for my mother plants going forward.

For anyone experienced with Rockwool or nft are my blocks too wet?

The water is sucking up maybe about a 3rd of the way up the cubes and the stems of my clones are deep enough into the cubes so that they are always wet.

Does rockwool promote good aeration so that they won’t end up overwatered here? Or do i need to shut off the water pump until roots reach out the bottom?

I ran 4” cubes in the late 80’s. Back then I took cuttings , places in one cubes, followed by 4’s, placed in flood trays, total height when finished would be 14/16”, I think each tray held 30. Mostly all were single colas1 to 1.5 zips per plant, 400 watt

Does the rockwool hold enough oxygen or do they need to be allowed to dry out at first when rooting?

Moisture in rockwool in my opinion can be tricky, make sure they are not soaking in water, hence root rot can quickly follow if this is the case.

After the roots have pentrated the cubes, the plants are better to survive so to speak if the cubes are completly dry.

You have to keep them a bit moist when rooting, hence they can suffer if left to dry, a balance game mate.
