Just got settled in and got my new box built. Vegging in a 2 ft wide by 4 ft deep and 6 1/2 ft tall area. Flowering in the 4 x 4 x 6 1/2 area.

Strains: 3 Sleezstac, 3 LA Confidential, 1 purple maroc, and 1 fast nevilles.

Lights: 16 daylight cfl's as I wait for the 1000 watt to make it up to Alaska.

Fox Farm Soil, and all of fox farm's nute's.

I tie down all my plants and grow them in a circle around the edge of the pot. It is much easier to use plastic grow bags for the training portion of their lives, because the plastic can be manipulated much like the plants. I had some early on issues with the ocean forest being a lil to hot for sleezstac and the fast nevilles, but I think we have worked out an agreement. She's going to grow right and I'm going to back off on the nutes.

I'd get some Easy Ryder if I were you. They would be nice outdoors up there I bet. 70 days from start to finish. I be you could finish them in 50 days if you start them inside for about three weeks and take them out.

I've been looking at easy rider. Might have to get some seeds pretty soon, everyday there's less ice and snow on the ground

hey bud, hows the med scene up there in that beautiful state of yours?my dream is having a cabin up there off the grid/ solar/well water, nice little greenhouse, freezer full of moose, bear and venison (dont even get me started on the fresh salmon and venison jerky) only reason i ask is b/c in ca there is such a deep rooted mj culture with thousands if not tens of thousands of dialed in growers with awesome crosses/clones/genetics all willing to trade off and help each-other out (and the sierra nevada mountain range stole my heart a few years back) just wondering why you decided on alaska?

Most of the reasons you just mentioned. I'm living in a dry cabin keeping to myself. People don't mess with you, but at the same time they are willing to help you out at the drop of a hat. Very little law enforcement, so they focus on the important things. Alaska constitution protects my rights to have under 24 plants for personal use. Everyday you can take in beautiful scenary, and the land hasnt been raped. I love it here. I've always been interested in Alaska but a friend of mine who resides there told me if I plan on moving to have a good job waiting for me and a few grand in savings. I took his advice seriously which is why I still reside in Cali. :)

Nice grow so far.

Thanks, I think anyone thinking about moving to Alaska should try to score one of many summer job's up here. Most of the job's provide housing too. It's a good way to see if you are going to like it here. You can rent a cabin for 325 to 600 a month. If you can live without running water your rent is much cheaper. They say you should have 6 months of bills in the bank just in case. Many people live off the land, and a recent fishing trip has provided me with a couple months of meat. A moose or caribou can feed you all winter. Hunting and trapping is still alive and well. Little gov't interference, and after you've been here a year you can collect a dividend, which averages 1,000 to 1,400 bucks. The winters are long, but if you are the type of person who doesnt want to live in a concrete jungle, and don't care for a bunch of police then you will like Alaska.

All that hunting and fishing I don't know if I would even have time for plants. (We all know that I would make time :P) All of the reasons you listed above though are reasons why Alaska has intrigued me for the last better part of a decade. Convincing my ball and chain to come along is another story. She complains about the winters here in the valley of Cali and it rarely gets cold enough to find ice on your windshield in the morning. For me though as long as I have some form of internet access so I can stay in contact with the outside world it's all good.
