ok, so I am putting together a 4x4x8 secret jardin. its all set up and I have put up two of the support bars running parallel to each other on the celling of the tent which I hung my light from. the 3rd bar running perpindicular to the other two, I have not put up. One reason in that it seems to be a smaller bar but dont completly fit right when perpindicular. But honestly I dont have a use for it unelss I put it parallel with the other two. I was wanting to do this so I can hang a carbon filter on it. Would this be unwise or unsafe? Would I be better off putting the carbon filter on the outside of the tent on the floor?

Carbon filters should be inside, not outside a tent on the floor (duh? :)). The bars of tents are a little wobbly sometimes. You'll find it helpful to re-brace it a little bit if you can by taping the joints together with very strong tape (*not duct tape!*). The other thing you can do is hang it from the ceiling int he room the tent is in, via ropes, and have the ropes simply go into the tent via a drilled hole. Then the ceiling of your house or wherever is supporting it not the tent.

Good luck :)

well if I put the carbon filter outside the tent with the inline fan attached to the filter and intake duct line running into the tent so that the inline fan is sucking the air from the tent via the ducting, would that not work?

pull from filter inside tent suspended at highest point possable, through light then out of tent to cool, remove smell, and exchange air insied tent. carbon filters are designed to be pulled through not pushed out.
example note the fan is sitting on top of tent not suspended inside. much safer, i should know :)

I know this post is old but 4tatude have you ever had problems with having your fan sit on top of your tent like that?

Tell ya what coler, when I had tents a few years back, the weight on the tents bars feelt like it was going to collapse. I'd strongly recommend just leavin it on the floor venting in the room!

i use a 8'' inch by 8 inch carbon filter that sits on top of my tent on the fabric and mines fine. depends how much weight you got pulling on your tent

I have got an air cooled hood and carbon filter 6x24. Same setup that pic shows earlier in this post minus a hood. I have my fan outside the tent drilled to a piece of wood so I can stand up sturdy. Just wanted to try a duff place for it.
