hey guys ive done enough research and gathered alot of information now it comes time to apply it however one last thing i had left and forgotten completely was to ask, how do i CLEAN the buckets and lids and hydroton, i think i read somewhere i had to mix a few spoons of bleach per gallon or something like that anyway correct procedure on how to clean the hydroton and buckets and lids would be well appreciated

and also can i use any Hydrogen proxide in my DWC buckets or does it need to be specificly for hydro the 25% ones?? a

and how much hydrogen peroxide do i add per liter/gallon?

A new reservoir tank or bucket doesn't need cleaning, nor any tubes, airstones, etc. Some items do need to be soaked in pH balanced water.

Clorine Bleach is very difficult to rinse off. Peroxide is much milder aend much easier to rinse off. Vinagar is great to clean with and easily rinses off.

Very few re-use the hydroton, but it can be rinsed, soaked , and re-used. You always need to start with new tubes, but they are cheap enough.

Did I answer the question?

it is you can use it again as long as you flush really good first
flush?. ok, usually when people hear "flush", it means that you are cleaning out a plants medium during a grow, not before. CLEAN, would be the phrase. when i buy hydroton i put it in the tub and run very hot water through it until all the red/brown residue has been washed off. then i run cold water through it. yes, you can reuse hydroton. after each grow i wash it in a h2o2 solution, and repeat the hot, and cold rinsing. hope this helped.

Hi Shaan,

I have had great success with a product called Bio Green Clean. It has been my experience that Bleach and Hydrogen Peroxide are too harsh, although they do work.

Check out Bio Green Clean, it is designed for cleaning Hydroponics systems with no toxic chemicals.
