New to LED question about vegging and dimming

I should have my Mau5-VII 8 cob kit tomorrow and will be setting it up..

I have a question about vegging with cobs.. I will be using this in a 3x3 tent for both veg and flower. Would it make sense to dim the light to around 50% and further away from the plants during veg? Them ramp up the intensity and lower (around 18") when ready to flower?

I'm very excited for my first grow with LEDs.

Thanks!

Damn, quick response! Thank you...

Do you think 50% is a good starting point for dimming or even less? I'd probably keep the lights as high as they could go in the beginning.

50% at 24" to start with.. then as your plant grows ...slowly increase the intensity so you hit full power the first week of flower.. then slowly move it closer.. needs to be a gradual transition.. watch for bleaching...

700ma is the average for vegging. Are you using 3500k or 5000k or mixed? May want some additional blues for vegging and reds for blooming. What type of timers are you going to use? Peace

I have seen some amazing plants vegged under very low light. Light intensity is more important in Flower.

Definitely. I just mean that you can avoid growing a leaf bush by decreasing light intensity for some of the tighter indicas.

Are you growing out of seeds ore clones ?
If from seed there is no point in dimming just blast them away with your light. They will love it and grow like rockets.

If cuttings you cant ofc.

I found this somewhere:

Vegetative: 35,000 - 70,000 lux
Flowering: 55,000 - 85,000 lux

How do you responders think of these numbers?
Fyi it is possible to 'make' a cheap luxmeter by using a smartphone and a free app. Not the real thing but indicative anyway.
