Newbie first grow. Apollo 13/Grand Daddy Purple SOG.

Hello fellow RIU friends. I'm going out on a limb and starting a journal on my first garden that I just got running two weeks ago. I''m a CA Prop 215 patient with a Dr exemption for 99 plants and 8 lbs of dried bud, so I'm keeping it legal. I plan on harvesting 24 plants every two weeks with 4 cycles going.

It's a true greenhouse made with 4x4s and hardened corrugated transparent plastic. It took 6 weeks to insulate, clean, run electric, etc. It's the biggest hands on project I've ever done to be honest.

It's a 7x7 greenhouse/shed currently set up with 2 600 watt hps lamps, one 1000 watt lamp (not running yet), closed room with co2, 11,000btu portable dual hose ac, 550cfm carbon scrubber, 435 inline Hurricane fan for light ventilation. The Apollo 13 is in 70% Happy Frog 30% perlite. Oh, and Advanced Nutrients Sensi+Supps for nutes.

Apollo 13

I started with 32 Apollo 13 clones but I'm down to 23. I made a few big mistakes in the first couple weeks. I left one of the totes of plants in the car for an hour in 95 degree weather. Then I was too anxious to start feeding nutes, when I technically knew better, which burned them. Top all that with the week of undiagnosed spider mites, and I'm surprised I have anything left to finish this grow.

Once I figured out the spider mite issue, I put in a No Pest Strip and treated with Forbid 4f. With in 2 days they made a 180. I was pretty damn proud of that...lol.

Currently there are 9 plants growing well, and the others are just starting to make a full recovery and bloom. My veg period was 3 days under a t5, ideally just to let them adjust after transplant before I went 12/12.

The Apollo was only temporary to start the garden while I found my GDP to run perpetually, sooooo...

Grand Daddy Purple

I brought in 4 GDP teens two days ago and put them under the t5. I'm going to use them to start the perpetual SOG once they are big enough to take 20+/- clones and put in the Clone King. The GDP plants are looking super healthy, but I went ahead and treated them with Forbid when I transplanted them.

The GDP went into 40/40/20 Ocean Farm, Happy Frog, and perlite with a bit of Dolomite Lime. This will be the mix all the way through for the GDP. Hopefully I won't have to add nutes until the 4th week of bloom.

I realize my writing skills lack format and my growing skills are minimal so I'm open to constructive suggestions, but please no flaming. Please feel free to comment. ;)

I'll do my best to post weekly as this perpetual SOG gets into full cycle.

image.jpg After I sat down and counted the nodes, I realized I wasn't going to get the amount of clones I wanted so I had to pick up a few more.

I transplanted these 7 clones yesterday into the 40/40/20 ffof/hf/perlite mix with a lite rooting solution in the drench water.

After lights out, I treated them with Eagle 20 and Forbid 4f, for preventative measure.

In two more days I'll put all eleven plants in the bloom room. Once I trim the lower branches in a couple weeks, I'll def get enough clones to start the following cycle.

More pics to follow.

This Friday will be 4 weeks into 12/12 from clone. It's pretty clear that I was given many different clones, not just Apollo 13. Damn CraigsList. Lol

9 of these are short girls are blooming nicely. 10 are barely showing buds, and are very stringy and tall.

image.jpg I brought in 9 more clones yesterday. 5 purple kush and 4 BC Big Buds.

The bigger girls are 4 weeks into 12/12 as of today and are growing daily. Being my first grow, I'm really impressed with how crystallized these are.

I also got my cloning station almost finished. I'm using a large tote, painted silver inside and out, with 2 26cfm fans cut into the back accordingly. As soon as my led light gets delivered, I'll post pics of it.

I'm going led for the space and heat factors. I will be cloning in the same room as I'm blooming in so it needs to be small and light weight.

I will have it sitting on top of my dehumidifier because I'm short on floor space.

Anyhow, here's a pic of the new girls. The Big Bud will most likely maintain as my only strain for cash crop, through perpetual monster cropping sea of green.

I finally finished the cloning station today. The blue led gives no heat so let's hope for the best and just make it work.

I brought in 8 more clones/teens last night and put them straight to bloom with the new BC Big Bud and Purple Kush clones that I veged for a day.

Makes a total of 46 in bloom now. 18 are 4 weeks in. 11 are about a week in and 17 just went in last night.

The feeding schedules are printed from google calendars so I can keep track and keep dates straight.

In 2 weeks I'll take 50 cuttings from the youngest plants in bloom (monster cropping) and fire up the Clone King led clone cabinet.

I had to piece meal getting plants started and build up the momentum. Now that I have the strain I want to maintain and a cloning station, the system begins.

image.jpg image.jpg I'm anxious to see this finally coming together. It's not ideal to have three separate bloom schedules going, but l have to make it work for now.

Once I get the cloning cycles going, this will all come together in sync.

Quick pic of all 46.

image.jpg image.jpg All is well. The short girls don't seem to drink as much as the tall ones, which I find interesting.

I lowered the lights last night down to 17" above the tallest. I had to replace the semi-rigid ducting in order to do so. It's been on the to do list for a few weeks.

Also, I switched my weekly foliar from Mad Farmer B1 to Canna Boost on the low strength.

I'm keeping the rh below 50 and the temp around 72-78, but today the temps were at 81 in mid light cycle. Lowering the lights obviously raised the temp. :(

I haven't even turned on the 3rd light yet and I'm already in need of a better AC unit. I think I can get through the Nor Cal winter without upgrading, but come spring time...

Sorry for the night time pics. Best I could do for today.

Quick pic of the end of week 5 bloom, straight from clone. Had to stake one plant to support from falling over... ;)

Still feeding 1ml-1.25ml per liter. 2 cups every three-four days.

These 2 are just over 12 inches tall. 9 of these are about 12" inches tall and 8 are about 16". The short girls are putting on some weight. Tall ones are hardly doing anything. IMG_4635.JPG IMG_4636.JPG

I'm keeping a feeding log with notes on a calendar.

This online journal appears very redundant and unnecessary.

I'll keep following and conversing with the community but I'm done with this SOG journal.

All the best,
Mandangleow

Nice set up you have going there. Love the little cloning chamber too. Looks like you did your homework before jumping into this one, congrats. I love those square pots, i find they are the best for conserving space and really cramming spaces full to the max. Are you going to continue the journal?

Thanks. I've switched to square 5.5" pots that fit 8 to a tray. I have three cycles/lights running perpetually now.

It's pretty fun tending garden every day. Dr Kripplinger Incredible Bulk is germinating now and will be my one and only strain.

Each light gets three weeks, taking clones around 10 days from the youngest plants in bloom.

I don't know if I'll do another "journal" exactly, but I will def be posting progress along the journey.

Final numbers.

Total dry weight is 160g. Sugar covered though, so I did SOMETHING right. Lol

First run was def a learning experience. Spider mites, heat stress, nute burn, you name it I had it.

The jars are large quarts in the pic for size comparison.

Take care all.
