hey guys, ive been on this forum for a while now just scanning threads etc. i have done a couple of grows using soil, the first wasnt too good the second was better but i want to try hydro. ive been lookin at flood and drain tables and have decided to get one.

my problem is what growing media do i use? and what do i look for in nutrients?

growing in soil seemed to be quite straight forward for example a seedling i would put in a small pot of soil and then put it into a bigger pot. any advise would be great

I'm pretty much in your shoes as well I'm looking into a reusable medium that's not heavy and not a bitch to clean.
If your using pots in the table and don't plan flooding to often I would suggest loose rockwool because it holds alot of moisture and is easily attainable and they say its reusable but I haven't heard of a way to clean it after a batch. You could also use hydroton (the clay balls) but personally I don't like them cause they are heavy and I hate cleaning them before use.
There a bunch of new mediums I've seen in mags but haven't heard from any growers if they are worth the time.
Personally I don't want to use pots so I'm looking for something light, reusable and not a bitch to clean.

You can use perlite and or vermiculite as hydro mediums as well. i prefer Hydroton because of the support it gives to the plant.

i wasnt planning on using pots either, and ive been lookin at them clay balls too.

forgive me if this seems a silly question, if i have a seedling what do i start it out in? do i use roockwool to start off?
