About to purchase all the supplies for my first grow. I am still researching nutes/soil etc.

For now I just want to get the actual hardware selected and ready to go. Prices below are based on quantity of 1 or 2

I'll paste below, and also had a few final questions.. Thanks!

1. Are 2 carbon filters necessary? Or just for exhaust ventilation?
2. I have 2 inline fans selected. Bringing air in and bringing air out. Are 2 speed controllers necessary?
3. 2 duct mufflers necessary?

Recommendations much appreciated!!! Also posted links to gear

You only need one inline fan, and one carbon filter, one speed controller and one duct muffler if you need a muffler in the first place.

Use active out take, passive intake. Vent your light with a cool tube. Put the filter and fan in the top of the tent, attach filter to fan then fan to cool tube. Vent the other side of the cool tube out of your tent and in the roof/wall/floor if you can. If you can't, you can vent in the same room but the problem with that is you need to be able to cool the heat being pushed in there from your tent. When you got a active out take, when the air is being sucked out, it forces air to be pulled in through a vent in the side of the tent. That is called passive intake. Also, not sure on your location but I've heard Apollo emits rf interference. Do a quick google search for more info. I live in the country and still skipped out on both Apollo and ipower and just bought a phantom ballast. It's better to buy one that you know will work without rf then to buy one with rf, and have to buy another without rf.

I think I covered everything. Anything else, just ask.

edit-just realized you got something aluminum foil... Toss whatever is aluminum foil.. It creates hot spots

Yeah, you don't want fans working against each other. The IN fan is trying to pressurize which the exhaust fan is attempting the opposite.

It all goes down to the tiny areas of low pressure on the fan blades. In a push-pull config, we screw that up.

Thanks for the advice! Awesome. I am only growing 2 plants in my setup. I see Apollo emitting RF interference, no good.

Can you recommend a HPS setup ranging between 250w to 400w? I live in somewhat crowded suburbia.

Just get a quality ballast reflector and bulb etc all separate instead of in a combo. I grow vertically, so I don't use a reflector anymore.

hydrofarm phantom, soils tek, and lumatek are quality ballasts to look into. There's also a advanced nutrients one but it's expensive.

cooltube reflector, I used the straight 6 from htg supply. It's like 60 bucks now.

I use a I power mh bulb to veg, ushio hps bulb to flower.

I use rope ratchets and a mechanical timer.

I think that's about it.
