Newbie question on feminized seeds

Hi everyone !

I would like to know if I should order feminized or regular seeds . It would be great if I could start with feminized ,but the hermaphrodites scare me a bit . It's my first grow tent and DWC hydroponic system . I wonder ,given the good conditions ,how often those hermaphrodites show up . Should I take a chance ?
If I have to take regulars ,I'm not equiped to grow 10 plants long enough so I can sexe them ...
I go one batch at the time ,no perpetual harvest . I need 4 females to bloom .I go with a SCROG , 600 Watts HPS and cool tube ...
Can you guys tell me what should I do ?

Go with feminized. So far I haven't had any problems with them.

In your case I'd try some fems. I only do regs now, but never had problems with hermies back when I was growing out fems.

I think the hermie problems with 'fems' were mostly during the early experiments with creating fem seeds. The methods used now are much more consistent and produce more stable seeds.

Fem seeds are very convenient if you haven't got the space to grow out 2-3 more plants than you actually need to flower or access to reliable cuttings.

IMHO, with my novice level knowledge, as long as the strains the breeder works with are super stable to begin with and tests his fem parents as well as progeny completely in advance, then you are good. On the other hand, if a breeder doesn't intentionally stress his initial stock to ensure great strain stability, then grow out several representatives of his fems to test for herms, you run a far greater risk of herms in your fem seeds. My 2 cents.

Agreed. But for a newbie, as I was not too long ago, there is no way to tell if the breeder has done this. The only true way to know is to do your research. I learned the hard way.
