Newbie trying a basement grow.

Hey guys, first time trying to grow. I am going to have two 5*5 rooms with a 7 ft ceiling, side by side for veg and flowering. I am thinking of getting 1000w HPS for flower and 1000w MH for Veg. The hoods have 6" cool tubes built in to them. I am trying to figure out ventilation. I was planning on having a fresh air intake at the floor of both rooms and exhausts towards the ceiling. From what I've researched each room needs 150-200cfm, so what I'd like to try to do if you all think it would work is attach carbon filters to each cool tube at one end and have flex runs leaving the rooms after it leaves the cool tubes. Once the vents are out of the room, attach both flex runs into a Y and then into an inline fan the inline fan would then be vented outside.
Does this make sense? If so what size fan and flex sizes do I need?
The cool tubes are 6", but I'd like to reduce down to 4" for each room if possible.

That's confusing to read. It sounds like you have the idea. Search this site and you will find all the info you'll need. Just let me say this. I didn't check your math but I'm going to ASSUME it's right. That's the MINIMUM amount of exchange for proper ventilation. But there's more to a grow room than that. You have to keep the temperature right also. So what temp the incoming air is plays a big roll. If it's cold enough then the minimum is good. But if the air is warmer it might take more air than that to keep the temperature at the proper level. Unfortunately you won't be able to know until it all set up. But the temps change year round so even if you're good now. Next July you might not be good. So with that in mind you can always slow a larger fan down. If you buy a fan that just meets your flow rate you will never get more out of it.

The best thing I can tell you is decide now how far you want to go with this. I started small and made it larger 3 times. So there are plenty of things I've bought twice. But I still do use that tiny 4 inch fan I started with. But now it's ventilating my drying tent!
