O.k. I'm very new to growing( haven't even started my first grow)and understand that's there is a difference between feeding(which is giving it N-P-K)and fertilizing it. I've I heard for the first 3weeks to a month you don't have to give it no nutrients and when ready for nutes to give it something high in nitrogen for vegetative cycle and high in potassium for flowering cycle. So here are the questions I have!

1.So I need two different nutes? one high in nitrogen? one high in potassium?
2.Do I just follow instructions on nutes bottle?
3.what else should I get for fertiling my plant?
4.Is there any fertilizer that will increase quality or quantity that is worth it?

you can follow instructions on bottle, but i think a lot of people including myself start out about 1/4 stregnth. One rule of thumb i've always read is that less=more when growing

from personal experience and with what i've read it seems with everyone's first grow the plants at somepoint are overwatered and possible nute burn. The plants don't need as much water and nutes that first growers give them. so that's what i meant by less=more or better.

bump... If anyone can clarify the nute question.

Higher in N for Vegging? higher in K for flowering?
Does anyone have any recommendations for products.. Is there anything else needed?
for fox farm do I need to get a ton of shit, or just a thing of the big bloom? I saw some sites saying you needed like $100 worth of ferts, and nutes... thats insane right?

if you are able, you should use multi-part nutrients depending on which stage of growth the plant is in. Most nutrient manufacturers sell a three-part (Base/Micro, Veg/Grow, Flower/Bloom) or a two-part (Base-Micro/Veg-Grow and Flower/Bloom). They also sell different extra additives to use during different stages such as rooting, rinsing, foliar feeding (spray directly on leaf), etc..

just starting out, you may want to start off with a simple (but higher quality) two or three-part.

Some nute manufacturers with a large variety of products (and prices):
General Hydroponics: GENERAL HYDROPONICS
Advanced Nutrients: Advanced Nutrients | Hydroponics and Indoor Gardening Systems - Grow Lights, Organic Nutrient Products and more…
FoxFarm: FoxFarm Soil & Fertilizer Company
BioBizz: BioBizz

and a bunch more...also here is the RIU FAQs regarding feeding,etc...

they FAQs don't tell you what to buy nor should they.

But here is the home page for Water, Nutrients, and additives:

I use Botanicare's Pure Blend Pro. It comes in grow, bloom and soilbloom(late stages). Its organic and works great. I love it.
