Newspaper Publishes gun owners addresses

from..

http://www.cnn.com/2012/12/25/us/new-york-gun-permit-map/

Names and addresses of all handgun permit holders in New York's Westchester and Rockland counties has infuriated many readers since it was posted Saturday on a newspaper's website.

County clerks' offices had told the paper that "the public does not have the right to see specific permits an individual has been issued, the types of handguns a person possesses or the number of guns he or she owns," the statement said. "Had we been able to obtain those records, we would have published them."

It shows those who own handguns.. not shotguns riffles etc..

I am reading gun ownership is public knowledge in certain counties..?

anyhow I still think this is BS... so the criminals just need to go online wait outside the house for everyone to go about their day.. go inside help themselves to a handgun..

or will they say I am going to avoid the handgun owners house? :) yeah... right..

i want people to know i have guns, i moved in and made damn sure everyone saw me and my wife carry in 4 large gun cases and wheel in my gun safe.

I am still on both sides of the fence.. I saw a reporter this am saying well if I see your name in the paper owning a gun I wont allow my 7 year old to play at your kids house.. My response was.. you should know the parrents better before letting them down there to play in the first place so you can decide if they are they type of parents to leave guns or weapons drugs laying around.. not your kid.. or the paper... effin lack of ability to think..

i was raised with guns and know the good and bad of a gun and i enjoy them as they are supposed to be enjoyed, responsibly. If little JOhnnys parents dont want to come to our house because I have a gun, fuck em, they are too narrow minded anyway

in my eyes, the more that know the better. Hey dont fuck with that house there, we know he gots guns. sure the jovahs and baptists dont come to the door with a guns on premise on the front porch :-)

I lmao this morning at the cnn guy talking about this. He put up a single FB comment, the one that said she didn't want her daughter to play where there are guns. The guy with him asked how many comments were like this, and he said he had to sort through thousands of them to find one or two that were in favor of publishing this nonsense.

That paper also said they wanted to have MORE information to publish, they wanted to say how many guns per house there are, but that wasn't available to them. They said they were very suprised about that gap of knowledge.

Sick.

Everyone in my neighborhood knows I've got guns, I've had to put down 2 rabid foxes, a rabid coyote and a wounded javelina in the past 6 years or so.

Animal control usually won't come out this far. Hell, they wouldn't come out to get the bodies either, I had to burn them.

now people who like to steal guns have addresses of where these guns should be. not only just guns but some of the most restricted kind of guns. i foresee more break ins to get these guns, these people who own the guns shooting these people with said guns, and more people pissed off about guns because of all the new gun related deaths.

i don't see what the point was supposed to be with publishing that. was it to highlight how scary your neighbors are (fear mongering), or was it to highlight whose house is an easier target?

the fact that americans would be surprised to learn their neighbors have guns is hilarious to me. the notion that pointing out gun owners is some noble public service is also hilarious. is this supposed to be some kind of attempt at gun owner shaming the way we shame bigots and child molesters? it's kind of revolting if you ask me, to present gun ownership in a way we usually use to track dangerous felons convicted of heinous crimes, like they are things to be equally concerned about. gag.

Lets just hope the bolts are taken out and firing pins.

<y uncle had his house broken into and they stole all his rifles but left the box with all the bolts. :P and it was with all the ammunition.

If its ok to publish the details of Westborp it's ok to do this. It doesn't matter who it is. Think about it. Try not to think about it in the climate of 'I have the right to own a weapon, second amendment, my liberty, raaarg!' for just a minute.

People want to know who is in the sex offenders register and whee thy live. They do not know for sure if that person was wrongly accused etc All youvdobknôw us they have the potential to cause harm

Of course I want to fucking know who is walking around with or concealing a fucking lethal weapon! And the same goes for people with display weapons be they antique guns or samurai swords (like the highly unusual murder with one recently) but a long range and easy concealed weapon like a gun? Also if you knew people had an excessively powerful gun wouldn't you want to know why they have it and where they got it from? Lanza's mother had the right to own weapons, but it doesn't mean this caused a threat to public safety. You can't control individuals and stop them being stupid with weapons only law enforcement and security should have. Agreed, I would not let my children play in a house with guns. Some people were brought up in crack houses, but there is divided opinion on whether that's ok... It's illegal for a reason as a danger to the public on one hand, but people have the right to govern their own lives and we should end the drug war on the other hand. A lot of parents would still have second thoughts on letting their kids play at a crack house though.

If it became ok for people to carry a weapon over here I d never leave the fuckin house. It's ok, youhave the right to own a gun too, so it's a level playing field ^^ WTF I want to go to the store without I feelin like a game of Call OfDuty, which kids spend far too long playing...A worrying amount of adults too.

Having said all that, even if I feel like I have a right to know what people around me are packing, that's their personal info.Someone emigutxwant to come steal the guns, though tha would render them being there for protection redundant...

Either you are ok with people having their personal information made public or you are not. Who it is and what it's for is irrelevant.
