Hey everyone,
I was recently hired to a great full-time job, however I have a criminal record and stated I did not have one. (As I always have - it is hard enough finding a job without one). My record was minor in scope and was marked "suspended sentence" in Canada.
My employer did not require fingerprint records but rather consent for a company "LexisNexis" to do a criminal background check.
My questions are, how accurate are these programs? I heard they search court records, do they always catch 100%? I was only in court two days, once for bail and once for plea (both names were not posted outside because of them being hours away from intake times).
I need to decide if I continue job hunting or what, it was a stupid mistake that landed me only a year of probation. It is a minimum wage job hiring hundreds of people; not top corporate ladder stuff.
I've done about two hours of research online and I can't come up with anything!! I could even see LexisNexis did screening in Canada until I called there support line and asked.
Any insight would be great!
