Hello to all.

First time grower, long time smoker. Been lurking for a bit. I'm 3 weeks into my first grow.
I have 3 NYC Sour Diesel autoflowers in a 3(w)x2(d)X5(h) tent in 4 gallon pots.
I thought I did my homework before I bought a light but I think I might have made a mistake with my purchase of a dorm grow g8led 240 watt burple special. Everything I've read (that wasn't manufacturer shill) says it's no good for flowering. I'm not sure how much time I have before these start flowering but I think I need to do something pronto. I'm ready to order my parts but since I already made one hasty purchase I figured I would post here for advice/cautionary tales.

Went through quite a bit of the "new to led thread" and some other led threads. I was going to buy a better light but after poking around and seeing this video by greengenes
I feel very confident I can make my own and cut my costs in half. The only thing stopping me before was the case/ heat sink but I see I can buy a prefab / made heat sink. I've wired/installed my own car stereos since I was 16 and for a while even competed with them so wiring should be no problem.

I'm making a few small changes to greengenes design and I'd love it if someone could just let me know if what I'm doing is kosher.
I believe it is but always like to be safe.

My main question is:

1.Can I use 3 Cree cxb3590's with a Meanwell HLG185H-C1400b?
I'm pretty sure I can since the forward voltage is the same as the cxb3070's but double checking with the knowledgeable people here.

2.I need to change the size of the heat sink to 30" to fit my grow space. I will only have 3 cobs instead of 4 like on the 36" heatsink in the video. Again should be no problem but my ocd needs confirmation.

I'm going to post this before I lose it but I probably have more to add.

Thanks in advance.

and of course you can dilute the heat better on that particular panel by only using 3 chips. do some quick math to figure out the best spacing so you dont have a dark zone. but duh i dont need to tell you lol GGOOODD LUUUCKK

It will cover the 3' width well but a single 50w cob might struggle with covering a two foot depth completely. If you dont mind a little less light around the edges you should be ok

yea your best density would be found in a triangular pattern and periodically rotating plants to increase light exposure

Wow. Thank you so much Dan. Makes me feel loved... Or maybe it's the whisky. Can't wait for the light.
