Strain: Northern Lights
100% Fox Farms Ocean Forest Soil
600 watt LED Grow Light
4x4 Grow Tent
6" Intake Fan
6" Exhaust Fan
Clip-On Circulation Fan

I plan on growing these clones 1 plant to each square foot, 16 plants in a 4x4 tent. I will be doing a SCROG and possibly some LST while they are young before they make it through the screen. The roots for these clones are looking fairly healthy for their age. I put them into soil today and gave them 3oz of plain water at a PH of about 6.5. It begins!

Tell me about it! The better LED grow lights are just so expensive... I think a worth while investment though. It will save a considerable amount of money on electricity - from the light itself and from all the extra cooling I will not need. The room stays between 71 and 83-85 degrees - and its summer time. I have no additional cooling - just an intake fan, an exhaust fan and a small clip-on fan for circulation.

what is the spectrum of that light ? I don't see any specs and what kind of lenses do it have on if any ?

also, you really don't need a intake ventilation, as long as you have a ventilation pulling air out of the tent, physic will take care of the rest and replace it agin from any passive intake holes you have, after all we are till on earth, so if summer temps get to hot you could easily add the intake as a no2 out take ventilation and just keep enough passive intake holes to make up for the two vent. (2-3 the size of the intake) will double your air flow, just use a pice of ducting if you want to "collect" fresh air from Etc a window

DAY 2 VEGETATIVE GROWTH STAGE

* Plugged light into timer - with 6 hours of darkness between 12:00pm-6:00pm (generally the warmest part of the day).

* Checked soil moisture with meter - from 1-4, it was on the line between 2 and 3. I am assuming they will be ready for another 3 oz of plain water by the end of tomorrow.

I checked my soil with a PH meter and got about 6.1. Should I be worried? I know usually you want your soil to be at least PH 6.5. Growth looks terrific - everything is green and doing just fine. Is this likely to become a problem down the line? I have been adjusting my water to a PH of about 6.5-6.7.

Day 8 Vegetative Growth Stage

I gave my first feeding of nutrients about 2.5 days ago and they are responding well - it looks like they can easily handle more. I used 4 tbsp/gallon of Fox Farm Big Bloom. This is the "general feeding" amount. I think next feeding I will bump it up to 6 tbsp/gallon - which is what Fox Farm suggests on their feeding schedule for soil. I plan on watering in a few hours with plain water - unless anyone thinks I should use the Big Bloom again..? I have heard it is gentle enough to use every watering, but I figure it is safer to go every other watering. Any input..?

I am also going to begin LST on the plants today - I figure starting LST early will shorten the time I will have to train the plants once the screen is introduced for SCROG.

The back row are some Blueberry plants, the ones along the side are Trainwreck. I started LST on them about a week ago. I will most likely not flower them because they had a pretty rocky start, but who knows.

Day 9 Vegetative Growth Stage

Started LST today. Hoping to add Fox Farm Grow Big to my nutrient solution next feeding (6 tbsp/gallon Fox Farm Big Bloom, 2 tbsp/gallon Fox Farm Grow Big) - possibly 1 tbsp of Organic Unsulphured Molasses as well. The Fox Farm nutrient amounts are actually what is suggested on their Feeding Schedule - I assume adding the molasses on top of this should not mess things up - what do you guys think? Or should I hold off on the molasses until flowering? I plan on using Fox Farm Tiger Bloom come flowering - maybe Tiger Bloom and molasses will make an awesome flowering combination..?

Personally I would wait on adding molasses. It has a high concentration of trace nutrients that are really need much until flowering and since you are using two ferts I would play it safe. Its not like the reward is greater than the risk with mollases at this point.

Day 10 Vegetative Growth Stage

Gave the plants a feeding yesterday - 6tbsp/gallon Fox Farm Big Bloom and 2tbsp/gallon Fox Farm Grow Big. They look like they are responding very well to the Big Bloom increase and addition of Grow Big. Nitrogen, yay!

Added 3 more 6" clip on fans to the tent (making a total of 4) - I arranged them so that there is one in each corner. My goal was to increase air circulation and improve cooling, while giving the plants that light wind agitation for strong stalk development.

The roots are starting to poke through the bottoms of the cups a bit for a handful of the plants. Going to keep an eye on them - probably be ready to transplant to the big containers soon.

Day 11 Vegetative Growth Stage

Gave the ladies 4 oz of plain water today - the soil dried out pretty quick this time around - under 2 days!

Now that the light is getting close to the plants, I am having higher average temperatures - so I added a second exhaust. I had two 4 inch inline fans that i put back to back at the end of the ducting.

I included a room picture, so anyone who is curious can get a glimpse at the set up. (there are two more of the 6" clip on fans on the opposite side.

I thought I would include some information on the specific cut of this strain. It is "Atomic" Northern Lights. The following was taken from http://www.medicaljane.com/review/atomic-northern-lights-sensi-seeds-nl5-backcrossed-with-its-native-roots/

Atomic Northern Lights has a history that stems all the way back to the early 80’s. It all started when some Afghani seeds landed in the northwest of the United States and were mixed with some Thai Haze. This strain was stabilized indoors by Sensi Seeds and became what we know today as Northern Lights. This strain went untouched and went on to win three Cannabis Cups in its tour in Europe before a man who went by the name Dr. Atomic, got his hands on it and decided to make some history of his own.Not Your Average Northern Lights, It’s Atomic…

The legend is that Dr. Atomic brought the foreign Northern Lights back to Canada where he then back-crossed it with some of its distant North American relatives. The resulting plant is an Indica-dominant plant with about 15-20% Sativa components that goes by Atomic Northern Lights. The Atomic Northern Lights strain tends to grow short and fast, while consistently producing heavy yields. The Atomic Northern Lights strain has an incredibly pungent haze smell with a sweet and sugary undertone. The taste was surprisingly fruity upon inhale, but the exhale was very similar to the smell; very hazy with earthy undertones. It was interesting because when I vaporized the herb, only the fruity flavors were detectable. I only got the mustier, haze taste when I ripped a bowl out of the Toro.
“The haze stench produced by the Atomic Northern Lights strain almost burns your nostrils when you stick your nose in the jar.”
The effects were very enjoyable as well, but were definitely delayed. I would have to consider this marijuana strain a creeper. After the first hit, I felt almost light-headed and very buzzed. I could feel my pupils begin to dilate and my mind begin to clear. However, within just five minutes my legs were kicked up on the ottoman and I could hardly feel them.Let’s just say Atomic Northern Lights is full-bodied medicine, and should be treated as such. The spacey effects left me feelings untouchable, which makes sense why this strain is popular among patients looking to cope with anxiety or chronic stress disorders like PTSD. Not to mention the Atomic Northern Lights strain frequently lab tests at high THC percentages; this has been proven to provide a boost in appetite for patients dealing with stomach issues and/or eating disorders without any harmful side effects. The smoke from each hit was very thick, creating an inescapable cough after each hit. I would consider this batch extremely potent, as the high lingered for about two and a half hours in my mind and a little bit longer in my body. I actually packed a second bowl and forgot about it for about a half-hour because I got distracted; always a good sign of strong medicine. There is no doubt that Atomic Northern Lights definitely deserves a spot on the bucket list of all Indica connoisseurs.

Day 12 - Vegetative Growth Stage

Fed with a nutrient solution: 6 tbsp/gallon Fox Farm Big Bloom, 3 tbsp/gallon Fox Farm Grow Big

The plants are responding very well to LST and filling in extremely well - so dense!

Yeah, the Fox Farm Big Bloom becomes verryyy expensive. It is so mild that 6tbsp is needed. 4tbsp is considered "general feeding" and 8tbsp are considered "heavy feeding." Since I am also feeding with Fox Farm Grow Big, I am going 6/3 - as the Fox Farm feeding schedule recommends. Luckily, I got the Big Bloom as a freebie - only a quart. We will see how long it lasts haha. I plan on finding something to replace it for the next grow. I like it, but you are very right - too damn expensive. Thanks for the recommendation! I plan on using Fox Farm Tiger Bloom and organic unsulphured molasses for flowering.

I am not going to top them, only LST. I am going to do a SCROG - the LST right now is in preparation for the SCROG, in hopes of maximizing the benefits of SCROG. I thought about FIMing them, but decided against it because of the stress it puts on the plants and possible extra vegetative growth time. With the LST and eventually the SCROG, I am hoping to get plenty of nice tops.

Lst will do it, nice little shrubs. :)

I have a couple going, 2 topped and 1 topped and lst'd.
The topped and lst'd one is a couple feet tall and a solid bush.

The dyna gro has made my grow super easy and the plants are
nice and healthy. Read up on that thread to see what dyna gro
is all about and how easy it is.
