Not so compact fluorescent

I haven't done any cannabis growing before, and at the moment, all I have access to are a lot of 48" fluorescent tubes. Are these bad for a small amount of growing? I know I will be unable to produce as much as if I were to use CFLs or Halide bulbs. They will still grow under this kind of lighting, correct?

The kind I am using are full spectrum, and I have no trouble changing the bulbs out for flowering.

Does anyone have links to a grow guide for fluorescent tubes? CFLs may be an option eventually, but my local hardware stores really don't seem to have anything near full (or even close to full) spectrum CFL. Yes, I could order online, but for now I might was well work with what I have.

you can use red spectrum for vegging(warm white), it wont make a real difference in the end, using blue and red together would outdo using only 1 side of the spectrum though. If you go with tubes you'll need alot of them, you need to bathe the plant in light from all over if you want to do good with tubes. How much do you have to spend?

I would say order the "main" lights while u experiment with these? that way you can bang them straight under a Metal Hailide if they start been too straggly
