Nothern Ontario Growers needed for advice!

Hi I am planning an outdoor grow. The problem is this will be my first grow as of next summer. At this time I have no money for seeds or nutrients but can get the cash by then. I am currently looking into getting 10x Jack herer seeds feminized seeds. They are only $50 for 10 which is what caught my eye. The strain sounds to be good quality and yield.(appealing) I have a general area chosen to grow, It is in the city and is kinda close to buildings but there are spots that are to thick for anyone else to go. My questions are these. How far away can my strain (or generally any weed) be smelled? Is this strain even good for outdoors? How much care does an out door plant need? Is there a strain suited for the northern Ontario climate
with high yield? I am hoping to get at least a few ounces from this grow and any advice, tips or tricks for growing or not getting snipped would be much appreciated.

keep reading and researching. and dont order seeds. tell you know what your doing. start with bag seeds. seeds you find in bags of weed.

As Shizz said, Read and research!! Jack H will more then likely not do that well, as your season is short. Depending on the strain it can be smelled a long way off in the winds. AS to all your questions tho, reasearch. This site is loaded with info!!!

Thanks for the advice guys. I am still going to get the jack herrer as the flowering period is 8-9 weeks. And at the price of the seeds It is okay if they don't reach there full potential. we do get about 3 months of really warm weather so it should be good. And as for getting more knowledge I guess I should watch jorge cerventes grow guild again for the 40th time. I mean I do have the knowledge but I guess I should do some review.

those seeds will not finish! and you will end up with very fluffy bud that is pretty much useless. Trust me i learned the hard way. Strain choice is most important when growing in ontario.

In that case got any recommendations for a high yielding bud that will grow well in northern ontario?

I agree jack H will not finish. I would try Timewarp by Next Generation or Freezeland by Smoke a Lot. Both available at the Hemp Depot.

The warm period will be mostly veg, they are a tropical sativa leaning meaning they won't start flowering until you hit 12/12 and it takes weeks to put on any kind of substantial weight. You should consider some autoflowering genetics or plants that are proven to finish in time in your climate. Not sure how far north you are, but if you're way north (which is what I'm assuming) I'm not sure what besides autos would finish, there are some strains I suppose that would that are mostly bred for outdoors in Canada but even some of those don't really finish until Oct (Timewarp) which might be too late if you're far north. If you're just north of the major metropolis area (the farm land), I'd say you have a decent selection with some luck in weather - but it's doubtful that the Jack will finish in time most seasons (you get really lucky sometimes).

Where are you ordering seeds from?

My 3 best strains so far have been, iranian/g13 by grgreenthumb, Iranian/OG by drgreenthumb, and afghani gold by toronto420. The all finished latest mid september. drgreenthump is a little pricey but all seeds worked and all produced much more then cheap seeds i had purchased.

Just found this strain. Whatcha think? pretty pricey. http://www.marijuana-seeds-canada.com/products/sweet-big-devil-2-automatic

Personally the ONLY company that I have ever delt with is GTA SEED BANK, I have been there in person and ordered from them online they have a lot of knowledge about the seeds and there growing conditions. I am pretty sure if you are south of sudbury then pretty much any 6 to 8 week indica will do pretty good as long as you germinate and veg for a few weeks before you stick them in the ground or grow bags.
