Nutes and supplements

So I have been reading as much as I can as well as talking to the hydro store about growing "plants" hydroponically. He told me that I need to use a complete nute product that covers the big three, but do I need to add supplements at different stages of growth? Such as CaMg? If someone could break this down Barney style and walk me throug the nutrient phases that would be great.

I use General Hydroponics nutes. Here is a link to their feeding schedule. Remember that all different strains have different needs.
