Nuts and grow medium

Ok well I had a post previously asking a few questions ..I figured I'd start small with a cheap tent to see how well it worked and keep it as a backup for clones and such if I buy a bigger tent after a successful grow.

Pretty much sense I come from soil...Will the nuts you use for your grow be any different? I mean my previous stuff worked relatively well I would just like to ask what people have used for their hydroponics and compare with what i got.

Lastly as I come from soil...what grow mediums work best? Its gunna be a grow tent with the bubble flow buckets from supercloset that comes with the gorilla grow tent.

If I could pick it up at a local store it would be great! Also something relatively cheap...

Oh...and also I never use the same soil for a new plant...but would you be able to keep the same medium for a new grow? or should you get new medium for every grow?

I figured a forum built to help people out with questions would be easier than googling every single thing haha mind I will still do comparisons.

Thanks for any input!

Rockwood and hydroton are pretty standard mediums for dwc. You can reuse hydroton for years. In dwc you run synthetic nutes with benes like aquashield/great white/etc. or sterile with h2o2/bleach/etc. I've used dyna gro and general hydroponics. I'm not a fan of gh floranova line. It will stain your roots brown and if you use too much the shit makes your roots muddy. Their regular line is pretty good though.

Main things are monitoring ph and ppm and root temps.

I went from dirt to perlite(holds too much moisture) rockwool (it's insulation) rocks (ok) hydrotron (best) back to dirt to start then dirt right into hydrotron, no washing just in a net pot with NutrientFlowTechnique NFT and presto. Dirt is the best for seeds, still.
