Ive been researching growing for nearly three months now and ive came up with several "prototypes" lol... My budget is around $3500 ( prolly alil more since I have to purchase seeds)...I recently ran into the BC Northern Lights Grow boxes and I like them, but something about them has me alil weary...Prolly the price since I still have a list of things Ill need and thats overshooting my budget...Id still need a Nutradip tri Meter , Grodan cubes, etc...I also seen the Grow Daddy Grow Box and I love this as well, but they off er even less in the package..Ive seen various DIY systems, but I am somehwta unsure of my skills since afterall I am a noob since I have no experience...I watched countless videos on youtube and followed bunches of grow journals..I just dont want my first grow to be a complete disaster...If ANY of you with some experience want to offer your expertise, id appreciate it...shit id love a grow partner ideally...Someone who has grown with results and someone I can in turn learn from..Id even share the spoils..:) If interested shoot me an email at MAjitu871@Aol.com

I wouldnt do hydro for your first grow, unless youre prepared for an occasional disaster. Way too many variables for a noob. But it can be done if thats what you really want to do. I get better results in Organic soil than I do with hydro. And you dont need all those meters, ph adjusters, nutrients, ect... Many reputable breeders mainly use soil. Im not familiar with that grow box. You can find good tents on ebay for less than $100. Good luck.

i agree with 'somedude'.. there is nothing wrong with soil..its forgiving and im using my energies controlling all the other variables, and yeilding loads... imho, as the song says mud mud mud mud mud mud mud

personally i use PLAGRON LITE-MIX with PERLITE, a good basic veg feed, and look forward to the flip when i hit them with a variety of soil suitable nutes, boosters, etc etc

So if I do soil I dont need to PH adjust??...Soo confused...
Add a little lime to it and it should be fine. I monitor my soil, but I never seems to change. I run mine at 6.8-7.0. I feed with blood and bone meal and bat guano. And some cow manure and humus compost and thats all you should need to start. Chemical ferts will kill the benificial bacteria in the soil.

Soil is a lot cheaper to start up as well as much more workable. Imo having smoked both soil and hydro grown bud I think the soil tasted better. For a first time I would stick to soil. Good luck. Also watch out giving personal info there are pigs here just like on the street.

i ph my feeding solution, not sure about lime? never done it. the nutes and boosters i use are what they call 'buffered', maybe someone else can explain that, i just do what i do, and its great, follow the basic rules and keep it simple. imho

Its MUCH cheaper. A good base soil should be $6-10 for 1.5cf, blood and bone meal run $5-7 for 3.5 lbs each, cow manure is less than $2 for 40 lbs, humus compost is just a couple bucks also. The bat guano is $20ish for 10 lbs online. If I know how much soil you plan on using, I can tell you how much of each to use in it. I made a 3 cf batch for less than $100 and I used more ingredients.

Those grow boxes are expensive and aimed at noobs like us , I was going to get one when i frist started and got talked out of it by more experienced growers and im happy i did. I would also say get a tent. Hydro and soil both have there pros and cons , it just depends on whats good for you as far as space , time etc. You have more than enough money if you have enough space i wud say try both even if you get just 1 dwc bucket and the rest soil. See what you like. Good luck.

Soil is nice and easy, but hey, DWC is little more than a bucket of water, it is pretty much fool proof if you've read up on what you're meant to do.

Never think you've just planned out the perfect setup, you'll build it and mediately think of something you'd fancy changing up :D I found myelf spending spending spending, so i said enough is enough and now i grow nice and simple barely a cost involved to the same result :)

That's a good thing with growing... more you research & experience the better. When u think u got it down, a new strain messes with your mind! Like Im a little more sensitive to the nutes or I take longer to mature. Shit like that...always something. But if you get your grow...Veg & flowering room set up with the perfect temps, humidity etc. And keep it clean pest & disease free. You should do great. And keep researching everything there is to know about the strain you want to grow. Before hand so no surprise's... for height issue's,room size etc. Hope this helps:peace:peace:

Well to add a contradictory note lol, I like to chime in and suggest Hempy pots (buckets) theres a thread on here somewhere dedicated to em... you can make them with soil or a hydro substrate personally I go with 50/50 perlite/vermiculite, you can get 100litre bags for as little as £15 I've NEVER used any fancy ph pens or anything just mix the nutes to measure and feed, job done... Also with hempy its impossible to over water as you have about a 1-2inch res at the bottom of your pot/bucket and any water that goes above that drains out.

found the link for ya!!

definately worth checking out!

As for the grow space best/cheapest bet is to either build your own or get a tent (tents appear to be a lot easier to cool than a solid grow cab too)

Nutes: Lots out there, personally I go with the Canna range its simple and it works end of :)

Anyhoo hope that was helpful!
