odd..

I just noticed my one plant seems a bit odd, I think some tiny roots may be coming out above the soil and it seems like it's got dirt or something stuck to the stem(it's actually stuck, I tried moving it with a toothpick). Should I just add some more soil and cover up about half of the stem in that picture and leave it?

Edit: I did decide to go ahead and cover it up with more soil for now. I was just concerned because of the dirt or w.e sticking to the stem and the last time that one of my plants had some kinda fungus it was also sticky. Maybe I'm just being paranoid and it doesn't help that this is really my first time dealing with any kind of personal gardening. One question though, does stuff stick to the root or does that only happen if it's infected/diseased?

it would have been okay.. but coving it won't harm anything that happens sometimes ....
